WISE Stayover 2011

Hi, so relatively recently I got an invitation to a Women in Science and Engineering Stayover hosted by Penn State in which I would get to stay over the campus two nights, follow around a female science/engineering student, and attend programs or something of the sort. The link is here:

[Women in the Sciences & Engineering Institute](http://equity.psu.edu/wise/k12-stayover.asp)

I’ve already been accepted to the College of Engineering, but I visited Penn State Main last summer, and the computer science program seemed kind of run-of-the-mill, so though I loved the campus and everything, I don’t think I’ll be attending. But this program seems kind of exciting, and I’d love to get out of school and do some good ol’ Women in Engineering stuff. Plus, it’s like all-inclusive at $35.

I wanted to ask, is there anyone out there who has done this stayover before, or better yet, is there anyone currently involved in it? I’d just like to get some real-life feedback before I commit. It seems like a pretty good opportunity and all, but then again often times these sort of things turn out pretty lame. Anyone with any information at all is welcome. =D Thanks.

Wow. You and I have a bit in common. I currently go to PSU for Computer Science. I am a sophomore but I did attend the WISE stay over my senior year in H.S.

If you are certain that you don’t want to attend PSU then I wouldn’t waste my time if I were you but if there is any indecision, I would definitely check it out. I really liked the WISE program because it gave me an opportunity to experience the school as a student rather than a visitor. You get to stay in the dorms and meet like minded females in your same position who plan on pursuing engineering degrees. You spend your time with PSU students and can ask any questions you may have. You also get an opportunity to attend classes. I believe it will give you the best idea as to whether you can see yourself at PSU.
