My daughter was nominated by her school to be a Wofford Scholar, and she received a “congratulations on the acceptance of your nomination” letter from Wofford, as well as an invitation to interview for Wofford Scholar scholarships. She’s applied, but hasn’t received an acceptance yet. Does the fact that her nomination was accepted and she was invited to interview for scholarships mean that she’s accepted or most likely will be accepted, or are we reading too much into the Wofford Scholar program? She’s getting anxious because she’s not received an official “you’re in” notification. She applied Early Decision. Thanks!
From what I’ve experienced, institutions often consider these types of letters " Likely." I don’t know Wofford’s exact history with likely letters, but I got the exact same thing for W&L when I became a Johnson finalist.
While timelines aren’t the same, I received my Johnson Finalist letter on Feb. 2nd, when I applied RD. My actual result came out on March 15th, but even being invited to these type of interviews/finalist stages often serves as a likely letter.
ETA:
I’m re-reading this and may have skipped over some vital stuff. If this invitation is for one of the more prestigious scholarships, the above should apply. I’m unsure of how the other scholarships are handled by Wofford.
I doubt they would waste time and effort to interview candidates they won’t accept.
Did you hear yet? My son attended the Wofford Scholar weekend Nov 16 and got his admissions (early action)+scholarship decision on 12/12!
Our D will be in Spartanburg in the Fall. Did your daughter commit?
