Woke up this morning

Anyone looking forward to tonight as much as I am?

And how. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Me too. Yeah, it’s a great mad time of year.

I have no idea what you folks are excited about. I’d guess is must be some sports thing, so… rah rah, go team, good luck! (Assuming that’s appropriate. )

Oh wait! Is this like the last season opener of the Sopranos? I’ve only watched 2 or 3 episodes before, I was thinking of starting tonight, should I bother? I’m a quick study… AND I am from NJ originally! :D

It’s got to be the return of “West Wing” after about a month off! right??? :)

I’m clueless myself (as so often…)

Woke Up This Morning
By, A3

You woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun,
Your mama always said you’d be
The Chosen One.

She said: You’re one in a million
You’ve got to burn to shine,
But you were born under a bad sign,
With a blue moon in your eyes.

When you woke up this morning
All that love had gone,
Your Papa never told you
About right and wrong.

But you’re, but you’re looking good, baby,
I believe that you’re feeling fine, (shame about it),
Born under a bad sign
With a blue moon in your eyes.

Woke up this morning
Got a blue moon in your eyes
Woke up this morning
Got a blue moon in your eyes
Woke up this morning

You woke up this morning
The world turned upside down,
Lord above, thing’s ain’t been the same
Since the Blues walked in our town.

Baby, but you’re, but you’re one in a million
You’ve got that shotgun shine; shame about it,
Born under a bad sign,
With a blue moon in your eyes.

Woke up this morning
Woke up this morning
Got a blue moon in your eyes
Woke up this morning

When you woke up this morning everything was gone.
By half past ten your head was going ding-dong.
Ringing like a bell from your head down to your toes,
Like a voice telling you there was something you should know.
Last night you were flying but today you’re so low
Ain’t it times like these that you wonder if you’ll ever know
The meaning of things as they appear to the others:
Wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers.
Don’t you wish you didn’t function,
Don’t you wish you didn’t think
Beyond the next paycheck and the next little drink’
Well you do so make up your mind to go on,'cos
When you woke up this morning everything you had was gone.

Woke up this morning
Woke up this morning
Woke up this morning
You wanna be the Chosen One.

Woke up this morning
Woke up this morning
Woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun.
Got yourself a gun.
Got yourself a gun.

I’m clueless myself (as so often…)

I htought maybe he was gonna get lucky
I have no idea- what is supposed to happen?

From this statement, I assume it has something to do with basketball? I’m a founding member of the clueless club!

But the “hype” part made me think “Sopranos”, since my H glanced at the Sunday paper and said, “There sure is a lot of hype about the Sopranos last season starting tonight.” So… yeah.

I’m voting for Sopranos.

I didn’t think I was being that oblique. “Woke Up This Morning” is the theme song of The Sopranos, FountainSiren even provided the lyrics. Expecting a great show tonight. IMO, The Sopranos can stand on its own against just about any movie, let alone TV. As good as the show is, however, emeraldkity’s guess would receive precedence. After all, I do have Tivo!

I rented the Sopanos once- don’t have cable- didn’t even finish watching it- not really my cup of tea. Perhaps I will try again sometime.

lol audio ;)

Well, now I REALLY feel clueless.

To bring it back to topic: In season 1, Tony (played by James Gandolfini, a Rutgers grad) escorts his daughter, Meadow on a college tour to Maine. He spots one of his old “friends”, an informant now in the witness protection program. As in so many Sopranos’ episodes, “business” and real life intersect and the results are not pretty.

In the series, Meadow winds up going to Columbia and, last we heard, was dating a dental student.

from what have heard, there is a lot of discussion of colleges on the Sopranos- so does this mean they don’t want the kids to go into the family business?
I think Reed was mentioned when Meadows best friend Hunter was accepted- they must be graduated by now ;)

Sorry audio–you weren’t being oblique, but apparently a bunch of us don’t get HBO.

I don’t know anything about any thing on TV that isn’t Daily Show, sorry!

Anyone else see it yet? It didn’t disapoint.

so excited, 15 minutes till showtime here in Ca…

FS thanks for the lyrics!!

No, it didn’t disappoint. Opened with a passage from William S. Burroughs (had to look that one up) and ended with a shocker that will change the direction of the show.

Of interest to CCer’s: Tony’s sister and brother-in-law have to beg off taking care of his uncle since they have a pre-school interview that requires both parents.
