I just got invited to this thing and am strongly considering it if they come through with the statement “We will be happy to cover all of your expenses for which ever event you choose to attend, including the cost of travel, food and parking” since my main problem is with cost. Anyone else get this?

Are they really serious??? Because that would be really reallly cool.

Yeah, I got that too but I can’t go because I have something going on the same day. They keep saying it’s completely free, so I don’t think they’d go back on it

But there are two dates…

munkeegirl said But there are two dates…and yes munkeegirl there are two dates and they will be your first two dates of many if you go to GaTech. LOL

GaTech is really trying to increase the number of women on campus so its for real and they will really go out of their way to make a good impression. Go and go to Tech we need the more XX rated people on campus…(XX chromosomes for you none bio folks out there.)

Munkee, my profile is on the accepted student portion of the GaTech website…if you like my looks maybe… oh never mind I’m wearing a welding helmet and you can’t see my… On second thought that is my good side.

Wow, the ratio is already hitting you stevie!

Everyone is so stressed out i was just trying to lighten the mood a little.

munkeegirl good luck on your decision. I saw some of your other posts re rochester and RPI.

FYI the guy who taught me welding was a MD who did research at Rochester. My Dad currently has a couple of projects with a couple of the docs there too. I met them and was impressed and the town is nice from what I’ve read but its just too cold.

My Dads boss, the guy who taught me welding says its a good school and I am sure you will get a good education there.

GATech is a totally different animal. Its a tech school and some techies lack interpersonal skills. That flavors the campus a little. There are only a few liberal arts people to balance them out. Also there is a strong GA influence and some of these kids will not be happy cause they have to work their butts off while their buds are at UGA drinking their butts off…Short term its tuff Long term they will work for us someday.

The last point is there are a lot of asians here. I don’t mean that in a negative way. They however get a lot of family pressure to do well and that pushes the curve in some classes. Me I go to a big HS with lots of asians and south asians and have been, once or twice the only white kid in a class. I can handle the grind and in fact I like it cause I like to learn. Its like my ap bio class. We have a 3 hr lab on wed nights. I have the second highest grade in the class. The person with the highest grade reads her other homework during breaks. I could have the highest grade but I want a life so I have fun. 97 and work on my intepersonal skills or 99 and work on my page turning skills You pick

GaTech is what you make it but so is any school and you can get a good education anywhere. GaTech has a coop program that is second to none and a very good mba program. You may not be able to get drunk and nakid every weekend but you will learn a lot and you will work hard.

I live in atlanta and have a number of firends who go there or who are graduating from there. Some who flunked out too but thats part of Gatech…You have to be willing to put in the work now for the rewards later. Most say it was a good choice for them

No cognitive dissonance here right I’m going to tech

what accepted portion of ga tech’s site? I was not aware there was one :O

ah cool! creating my profile now.

Nice dress but is your code on the gtech community correct? It may not be executing or I may not be getting it. Isn’t there a song, “Devil in a blue dress?”

Look for a steven. I change my picture every day or two

hahahah XD

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geek_code

=] cheers. and I saw your profile. Btw, there are barely any Asians on the board. lonely

I didn’t notice that there’s two dates, but I doubt I’ll go anyway. We have to go to Atlanta for something else next month and it’d be easier to just look around campus the next day.
Hope you have fun though :)
