Women in Science Club

Hi Everyone!

I'm a sophomore and while I'm involved in a few EC's, I feel like I don't have anything that's my own. I want to start a women in science club, have semimonthly meeting and have guest speakers, discussions, and information about grants and programs for females in STEM. My questions are

a.) Do you think this is a good idea for a club?
b.) What kind of activities can we do other than the obvious guest speakers and such?

Thanks a bunch :)

A) Yes, definitely. It shows your passion for science which will look great on your apps.

B) Tutoring? Help each other w/ the difficult courses (e.g. AP Chemistry, AP Physics, etc.) Provide more information on science to student pop. Other than that you have everything covered.

Good luck in your endeavors and sorry for the late-ness lol.

a) Yes, only if you're passionate about it. Don't spend the time if you're just doing it for college though.

At Caltech we have a "women in math" group that's just a bunch of women getting together and eating free food. I think anything involving free food is a good thing. At the very least, it will make people want to join your club.

You might make us guys jealous with the free food and everything.

why not make a science club and have twice as many members?
