I like the hat!!
I like the pink hats. Husband and I are going by bus. We have 9 buses coming from our small town. Granted we are only three hours away. Trying to decide on a sign.
I’m going to D.C. with D17 (older D has a show opening), a very good friend, and her 2 young adult daughters. We’ll be on one of a large number of buses chartered by our state’s Women’s March chapter. The seats on the first batch of buses sold out in minutes.
The hat.
How many people will think of “Pussycat Lounge” and strippers when they hear about the pink pussy hat. . Or sexy halloween kitty ears. Good grief, we are not 3 year old little girls.
The darn computer won’t even let you type Pussy without censoring it.
And pink. A color that’s become synonymous with breast cancer.
Just a bad choice for this.
I am truely so very, very angry. I am so frustrated. I am so embarrased. I am so very disappointed. I am so disillusioned.
I need to feel empowered!

Ours too @WhereIsMyKindle. Two local churches, our LGTB center and Planned Parenthood are also sponsoring buses. Others are using the Rally bus option.
…anyway. Wear what you want . I can only speak for me. Just show up.

I’m going to be there with some CC friends and others in my life. I’m carrying a sign. I was thinking of using one side of the sign to list all the people who wanted to be there but can’t (they are marching elsewhere, are unable to get to DC, etc.) so that they are represented. I can put your CC name or your first name and/or state on it (am not using full names unless someone is really insistent). PM me if you want. Hope that doesn’t violate TOS.
If possible, buy your Metro passes in advance. You can do this online or at a Metro station. Saturday morning the lines will be long and you’ll e happy you aren’t in them. (Was reminded of this at the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert march a few years ago when I forgot to load my ticket in advance.) https://www.wmata.com/rider-guide/events/inauguration.cfm
Regular prices will apply on the 21st. I believe the full day pass is normally $14; the special rate is only for the 20th. Right now Metro plans to run a regular weekend schedule; there is pressure to make it a weekday schedule instead.

Yes @CountingDown. We have purchased a one day metro pass for $14.50 by mail. I woulld rather be safe than not have enough on my card and have to add extra at a station.
So great to hear everyone’s energy and spirit. Many friends marching in both SF and Oakland. I was going to but something has come up and we will be out of town (for an event that precludes the march). D2 lives in DC and will be there.
Don’t get hung up on the hat. I’m sure that for every person that thinks it is odd/offensive/silly there is another person who understands the significance - in more ways than one - the pink, the other “p” word, the word play. You put a black hat on everyone and well, it’s a black hat. The pink hat while maybe not the perfect message for everyone will have a unifying effect.
It’s not a fashion show. It can’t be a 100% same message across the board. Don’t get hung up on the hat. Get on board with the message - YOUR message, your presence, the impact, the unity. The people are unifying - not the hat - it’s a symbol.

I know dozens who are going to DC from Toronto, including 3 of my Ds and even more from NY. Hundreds more will be marching/gathering in Toronto, including my 2 other Ds, myself and probably 30 friends. I think it’s wonderful that so many here on CC are going to DC. I wish I could be there.
I know lots of people who are participating here in LA and also people who are traveling to DC, but honestly I just feel so defeated and I can’t shake the feeling that this will do nothing to help. Maybe if I lived in a red state I would be more inclined to participate in a local march. I don’t know.
I’m sure it will be a moving and cathartic experience for those who participate but in terms of being an effective measure to accomplish anything, I haven’t been persuaded of that yet.
I suppose the more people who show up the more ridiculous the administration’s brush off will look. So I suppose that is a reason to show up. The whole situation is just so profoundly depressing.
@sax , no need to apologize - you’re allowed to not like the idea! I was just trying to say that the hat is just one piece, one symbol - hopefully the human factor will be what truly stand out. 
I plan on hiding under my covers that day and the day before. Salut to all of you who march! I did a lot of that in the past and was always a bit frustrated that it all seemed dependent on how much media coverage you would get because Congress was never in session and the President was never around when you were given a parade permit to march. @nottelling, my friends, family and I were so upset after the election that we would’ve been ready to march right then. I am looking at this as an opportunity to say “don’t forget US” for the next four years.
As for the hat, its a personal choice. Everyone, take pictures! It would be great if we could set up a photo sharing event (off CC, of course.) I am feeling more hopeful that this will be a positive experience for all!

I wish a hat had been designed that was more somber. and not pink as we all think
of cancer when we see that pink. Or is that another point to be made?
I marched in the first Woman’s Rights March back in the 70’s.
It was amazing. I was living in Gettysburg at that time.
