womens wallet

I need a grown up wallet. I’ve had wallets in the past that were huge and after awhile I got tired of them so a few years ago I switched to a very minimalist wallet for a trip and liked it so much I kept it as my regular wallet. Now it’s time to go back to something a bit bigger, but not the take-over-the-purse huge-wallet. I’d love suggestions that I can pass on to my family for me. Do you have a favorite wallet? Something weird I’ve seen is how the slot for bills sometimes doesn’t fit our US bills quite right and that’s something I want.

What to keep in a wallet/billfold- money (bills and coins), credit and other cards. I like that my aging one is such that you can get bills out while the coin section is open (most would be upside down)- holding it in the left hand. Starting to search for new one with that feature. Wallets are meant to be kept in your purse. I have a separate checkbook cover- handy when you want to leave that at home when traveling. I have a purse with zippers so nothing can fall out and various compartments to store things- I always know where to tell H to look for an item.

I have a bunch of different wallets, but my favorite is my Brighton wallet. It’s an older model that is similar to this one

http://www.brighton.com/product/small-wallets/36956-15708/belisimo-heart-bellisimo-heart-small-wallet.html

I love my wallet but I can’t find who made it and I’ve spent the last 15 minutes trying to find it on line. No luck yet :(

I have a Coach wallet that’s kind of like a men’s tri-fold wallet, but with a zipper change section on the back. It’s fairly small and easy to deal with.

wis75 - Your wallet sounds interesting. What brand is it?

Now that you mention it, my wallet is starting to age poorly. It is a leather wallet I picked up for under $10 at Ross, but the leather is just a covering and peeling off in places. I may have to use one of my other wallets. I have one from Macy’s young men’s section, made of nylon (like the ones in surf shops) that has a little pocket for change that stays shut with Velcro. I have a larger wallet I bought from Ross WalMart that has a zipper compartment for change. I just put currency and change in the wallet, with a few cards–driver’s license, medical insurance card, AAA, and a few charge cards. Hmmm, might have to start figuring out which of the other wallets to use instead of the one that is finally looking its age.

I do not fold my wallets but leave them open in my purse, like an open envelope, so it’s easier to get the currency out of, as well as the frequently used cards. Having the wallet shut is just an extra step in the process of spending $$$. ;)

I have this wallet and I LOVE it. It has zipper coin on the back, two slots that actually hold bills, and plenty of card slots. It comes in tons of colors. It’s small enough to fit in a jacket pocket. The only thing it’s missing is a wrist strap. So I bought a metal eyelet with tool from the sewing section at Walmart, applied that, and tied a ribbon around it.

And it’s inexpensive!

I’ve been using this Lodis wallet for the past 6 years and it still looks brand new. I constantly get compliments on it. Mine is a dark pink with an orange interior, so it’s easy to find on the bottom of my purse. Love it! http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/lodis-audrey-checkbook-clutch-wallet/2851050?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=Cobalt%2F+Toffee&resultback=349&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-1_1_B

I have a Mywalit brand wallet, and really like it.

http://www.mywalit.com/en/shop/

I use an iPhone wallet, but I like this company for ipad cases & they also make wallets.

Or if you want vegan, I like Shagwear cause they are colorful & easy to spot when I set in down and hold up well.

http://www.amazon.com/Shagwear-Womens-Wallet/dp/B0047RVSW6/ref=pd_sbs_a_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1CZZJWPVNSKXVTS1Z602

Just went wallet shopping yesterday for a gift. TJMaxx had several Lucky Brand and Relic wallets for $30 and $35 - not the small trifolds but nicer sized wallets that had lots of storage but are not too bulky.

I have been using for years a french purse style wallet (with the snap top for your change.) Just like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Buxton-Heiress-French-Purse-Burgundy/dp/B00488TTHU/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1418011090&sr=1-1&keywords=french+wallets+for+women

I can fit everything in it (including bills fitting perfectly) and it is small for a wallet

For a long time I used a minimal ID holder that also could hold a couple of charge cards and a few folded bills on a lanyard, like these, with a lanyard attached:

http://www.verabradley.com/product/zip-id-case/midnight-houndstooth/1003612_199806.uts?fromSearch=1

But a few years ago I found this wristlet that also holds an Otterbox enclosed IPhone 5. It is still small enough to slip into a purse or carry alone instead of a purse.

<a href=“Women's Wristlets, Wallets, & Cell Phone Purses | Vera Bradley”>http://www.verabradley.com/product/smartphone-wristlet/flower-shower/1001713_196736.uts

There are many patterns to choose from. These Vera Bradley wristlets (and the ID holders on a lanyard) are, for some weird reason, also very popular with teenaged girls around here.

eastcoastcrazy, I hope that those wristlets are popular with teens in MY area, I snagged one for a teen girl! Very cute!

I always have a couple of the Vera “zip ID cases” around - perfect for when I just want to slip a credit card, a little cash and my house key to head out.

My 17 year old uses her Vera wristlet daily to take to school.

blackeyedsusan, I have exactly the same Lodis wallet, except that mine is camel with a dark red interior. Lots of pockets and compartments. It’s incredibly well-made, a real thing of beauty. I’m not sure how long I’ve had mine, but it’s probably been at least 6 years. Like yours, it still looks brand new. I just looked at it closely. There are no signs of wear, even along the edges. The stitching is still perfect. And mine is really full and gets hard use.

I use a water proof case to hold all my credit cards and another for my bills in my purse. I bought them at the beach for a couple of bucks. They work really well. Here’s what they look like except mine are colored.

http://www.amazon.com/WITZ-Safe-Waterproof-Badge-Holder/dp/B00DKNB6UC

I have searched for wallets over the years and also tried to step back from the giant ones! I have SO many affinity cards, punch cards etc that I keep them in a separate little zippered pouch in my purse and keep them out of the wallet.

I think the best selection of wallets is by Fossil these days and can be found at Fossil stores, online or at Dillard’s (where they are frequently on sale).

I got a case for my phone with space for a couple of cards, including my Metrocard to ride the bus and subway. It’s similar to this one:

Then a very small change purse for bills and coins. I have a pocket in my purse for everything else, including checkbook.
