Sometimes I use the answer as my first word, but my mind wasn’t even contemplating it last night, so I’m quite pleased with getting it in two.
All the others will wait until my lad and I can do them together sometime later today - don’t know that they’ll get posted on here - it all depends on the socializing we’re doing.

My mother is visiting and played Wordle 319 from May 4th. Like many other posters, she got the solution in 2. Her results are below. I instead took 4 guesses with the same starting word as below, which was well above the NYT average of 3.0 guesses and most posters in this thread.

I think this highlights a difference in my style of play from most others. If I have a large number of potential solutions remaining, I’ll select a word that I believe eliminates as many possible solutions as possible on average. I won’t try to guess the solution. Most likely my guess will not be a potential solution. In the example, I know the middle letter of the solution, so I would intentionally avoid using that known middle letter in my 2nd guess. I will eliminate more potential solutions if I choose 5 letters that I either don’t know whether they are in a solution or don’t know their position.
