Choices!!
I had a good first starting word. It took me awhile, however, to think of a possible answer (WordleBot said there were 4 possibilities). After my second guess, there was only 1 possibility left, the answer!

Slow start. Strong finish!
I’m satisfied with this Wordle. I believe each guess was optimal, and only 1 solution remained after the 2nd guess.

The hit letters in the 2 Dordle puzzles had good overlap, so I had a chance of getting first ever 3/4 Dordle. However, an unlucky guess in the 2nd puzzle prevented this.

Once again, should have thought a few seconds longer on the third guess.
Wordle 328 5/6
I do Wordle, Dordle, Quordle, Octordle (my favorite) and Secdordle. Secdordle must reset earlier than the others because I did it last night PST and, this morning it says I already solved it.
What type of logic do you use when solving the puzzles? I always start with two words to flush out the vowels - AROSE and UNITY. If the word isn’t obvious to me, I will type out the letters I know in different combos and put an X as a place holder for the letters I don’t know. It is much easier for me to solve when I see something like XARSX instead of five boxes.

For Quordle and Octordle I start with ADIEU and MONTH and solve if something jumps out, if not I use SPRIG. Sometimes I write my letters on a piece of paper to see if that helps.

In terms of strategy, I try to uncover more of the consonants than vowels so my lead in words are consonant heavy. Sometimes I start with smelt and then carny. Sometimes smart and blend. I, too, for games other than wordle, tend to start with two “random” words before trying to solve. Used to use 3 but then realized that guaranteed clocks and my goal is no clocks.

I start with TRAIN and SLOPE to get most vowels and the common consonants. If that doesn’t help much, I add DUCHY. I do sometimes type in nonsense words just to see the layout and it often triggers the right guess. Near the end of the longer games,it’s mostly the unused letters that trigger the words.

In terms of strategy, I used to always start with adieu and then if only one vowel was used I would then try and using a word with that vowel and o and y. Lately, I’ve been trying out various starting words and trying to clear out some of the most common letters, as before I was more vowel-based and now I’m trying to see how well my brain likes consonant-based.
AROSE is a good starting word. Wordlebot rates it 95 skill with 1% of players choosing that word. However, for Wordle (only 1 puzzle), if you are trying to solve the puzzle in as few guesses as possible, then you should vary 2nd guess depend on which letters were hit in the first guess rather tan always choose UNITY. For example, suppose you guessed AROSE and hit only the final 2 letters: – ???SE. This greatly limits the number of possible solutions to something like the following:
DENSE
GEESE
GUISE
PULSE
SENSE
TENSE
THESE
With the following possible solutions listed above, guessing UNITY would be a sub-optimal choice. A better choice would be STUNG. With STUNG, you’d be guaranteed to solve in 3, as summarized below. With UNITY, you might get lucky and solve in 3, or you might have situations like only the ‘n’ hit and you don’t know whether it is DENSE or SENSE, so you have to have another guess to separate the rhyming words.
ns in unknown position = DENSE
gs in unknown position = GEESE
gus in unknown position = GUISE
su in unknown position = PULSE
S in first, n unknown = SENSE
tns in unknown position = TENSE
ts in unknown position = THESE
With Quordle/Octordle or similar with large number of puzzles, then unless you can solve one of the puzzles in 2, I agree that is better to use a general word that contains 5 key letters not found in your starting word for the 2nd guess.
