Words and / or Phrases Which Make You Squirm!

My big irritant is “times less” as in, “that dress costs 4 times less than the other one”. I scream at the TV whenever someone says it. It drives me nuts.

I also dislike the word “woke”. It took me forever to discover that it wasn’t a typo.

@silverlady, bad math deserves its own thread!

'Woke" seems to be the work of the week and I still don’t know what that means.

I also dislike grown people using cutesy terms for bodily functions or intimate body parts ie. excuse me, I gotta go potty; and what’s up with ‘restroom’? When I go, I’m in and out, no resting in there fore me!

“Needs fixed” instead of “needs to be fixed.”

Yeah we used to joke that if Shakespeare had been an Ohioan his soliloquy would have been “or not”.

I don’t like the term “cop” when referring to the police. It seems a bit pejorative to me. To me it’s something used by someone who wants to avoid them rather than respect them. I am hearing it regularly on TV and Radio newscasts. You don’t go to a “cop” academy.
