<p>Hi everyone, this is my first post (yay) I am a UK citizen looking into goin to the US to study acting (probably in LA) as I have no previous experience at the moment because I didn’t get into my drama class i was wondering about what practise I could do out there, now how do you go about getting permission to work off campus on the M1 visa?
also if I did some unpaid theartre work or something would this be allowed off campus if it was unpaid ?</p>

<p>It’s very difficult for foreign students to get a work visa in the US. Usually it is a condition of your student visa that you do not work (exactly the opposite of student visas in the UK which automatically include a work visa in fact). I can’t see that they could stop voluntary/unpaid work though.</p>
<p>Don’t know if you can work with M1, but I know you can with F1</p>
