World cup 2014

The World Cup Dubious Goals Panel. Loved that!

The replays do not show the greatest angle, but one commentator thought the defender kicked it and it glanced off of the Brazilian’s shirt.

Brazil is looking soooo much better than that first game. And then … As soon as I wrote that … Chile!

It’s really sad if Brazil loses this game.

Really? I love an underdog. But I would hate to see Brazil’s goalkeeper go. ;)

Brazil’s play has really dropped off in the second half.

Speaking of dubious goals… has anyone mentioned the goal for Uruguay against Italy?

It came on a corner kick deliverwd by Suarez… after he had bitten Chiellini and gotten away with it. Suarez should not have even been in the game. Italy was screwed.

When USA and Portugal tied, how come there was not something called a “shootout”?

I can’t believe the Uruguay coach resigned from some committee because he felt the punishment for the biter was to harsh. The guy should have been banned for life after the second bit and certainly by the third biting incident.

The rules are just different in round-robin play. Once you get in the Round of 16, the games are elimination games so they can’t end in a tie.

In the round robin, there is no problem with a tie, so ties are allowed. But in the knockout, there has to be a winner. So they have to go to the shootout.

As much as I try I still find soccer boring. But I have to admit the Brazil vs. Chile is actually a pretty good match and fun to watch. It seems like the refs just added an hole lot of time. The guys are dropping like flies because of the heat exhaustion.

Crossbar : Cristo Redentor

I hate shootouts.

Got to feel for the Chileans

Especially Gonzalo. Coach would always be quick to point out it wouldn’t have been on him if the others had scored. 8-|

razorsharp; at this stage, extra 30 minutes, then 5 alternating penalty kicks, ranter than ending in a tie.

And if after the five-each penalty kicks, it’s still a tie … they do another round of
PKs.

Poor Chile. I was really kind of hoping for the upset. Brazil knocked them out way back in the day when Chile hosted.

James Rodriguez just became a one-name global star. Good Lord, was that goal beautiful.

Something about youngest to score 4 in a world cup?

Make that 5. =D>

Spanish-language broadcasts are so much fun to watch.

Golazo, golazo, golazo!!! Azo, azo, azo!!!
