Ugh, Germany vs. Italy. Who to root for?

France is my team now, because they’re the classiest bunch of the final four.

ok yeah yeah yeah the world is gettin more exciting that ever but somebody answer this question

why isnt dominich putting TREZEGUET in the startin line up?, somebdoy please answer this. come on!!! he scored tons of goals in the calcio and sure was one of the best strikers in the world before the world cup. whats the real story behind that?

It really makes no sense. Trezeguet is indeed awesome and he gets along great with Henry. Together, they are deadly. But I hear that Trezeguet and the coach do not get along well. Besides, France always uses 1-2-3-4-1 format, with a lone striker up front. That is why France is so hard to score against, but it also explains why France doesn’t score a lot.

nbachris, the French team is, in my opinion, the classiest of the bunch. Well, France and Brazil are the classiest.

I’m guessing trezeguet and domenech have personal issues… because even when substituting henry he put in saha and not david. Its also probably the same thing with Coupet… hes much better than barthez yet is on the bench.

I am not so sure about Coupet. Barthez is an amazing goalkeeper. He isn’t the most consistent, I grant you that, but he is very instictive and highly experienced.

yeah i definitely agree with u, but there isnt really that much experience coupet lacks as he played the UEFA CL and evidently that has given experience enough to be france number 1 player.

it sucks trezeguet hasnt had the chance to play as he would have hope. he only got to play one game and some more minutes. and yes i noticed that dominich made substitutions such as govou, wiltord, and saha leaving trezueguet on the bench as if the thre of them were as good as he is. and if u have to give the credit for france’s good campain. it isnt dominich but the amazing duo zidane-henry and good cooperation of players such as sagnol, ribery, and vieira

Italy vs Germany
1st half- exciting
2nd half - boring
extra time - omg! 2 goals in like 2 min?

Trezeguet (and Henry) will be 32 in the next world cup, so all is not lost. As we clearly saw, it is the 30-35 year old players who really made a difference in this world cup. Experience will usually trump youth at that level.

I love how European teams react to winning. Makes them look so genuine and fun-loving, unlike American athletes who pour Gatorade on each other

Wow. Today was crazy and though I’m VERY sad to see Germany go, they really sucked today. The Italians were up to their usual business though, which pi**** me off…sigh If they win, I’ll be so mad. I’m rooting for France now. Although their performance is very unstable.

France has not been unstable of late. They beat Denmark, China and Mexico with ease in the three friendlies leading up to the World Cup and they beat Korea (the second goal should have counted), Spain, Togo and Brazil with ease too. I’d say France is playing at a high level and consistantly so. This said, I agree that at this level, anything can happen. France would just as easily beat Portugal and Italy as they could crash and lose to Portugal tonight.

wow, this world cup could be anyone’s game. france can justtttttt as easily win the whole thing or play horribly and leave tonight.

i just don’t want a portugal/italy final. just seems somewhat wrong…

I would disagree a little: they tied with Switzerland and South Korea, matches that they could’ve easily won had they played at the level at which they played the Brazilians. You have to take into account not only the fact that they won, but also how they won, and the caliber of the team they played; their victory over Brazil was very different from their victory over Togo (which was, and dunno if it remains, the lowest ranked team of the Tournament).

And I agree. Portugal-Italy would be SOOO wrong. I’m definitely pinning a lot of my hopes (and faith in WC) on France.

Zidane, one more time.

If you’re not in front of a tv set, the France vs. Portugal game is being broadcast live on the ESPN website at http://broadband.espn.go.com/ivp/splash

ZIZOU i love him so much.

oh he’s brilliant. i just hope they hold on to it for the rest of the game…

Francais~~~~~~~~~Italy Sunday.

yaaaaaaaaaaay

looks like big man zidane’s playing one more game. France 2006 looks very likely.

Mr. Big Man…he is looking like the machine. All the way forget the Zamboni. Forget about it.
