****...World Cup

Haha, ^^

Even after a red card. I love zidane, that stupid italian deserved it. italians are a bunch of ■■■■■■ bags anyway. i knew it was over for france once he was out.

a red card, at the end of the final game, at the end of the world cup doesn’t make much of a difference. i guess if he stayed france would have slightly more hope, but in World Cup . . the better team always wins eh?
has anyone ever defeated italy in penalty kicks? it seems that those are italys forte.

Actually…Italy had never won a PK shootout in the world cup before. They were 0-3 before yesterday’s victory.

he was trying to pull a Cantona…just more subtle.

Trezequet lost the match in my opinion…with Zizou on the field they couldve had a better chance in scoring those last 9 mins…but Trezequet was the one who hit the crossbar and caused Italy to move ahead in PK’s.

No they’re not :frowning: They’re really nice people, actually. Trust me, I lived with them and went to school with them, lol.

That game really sucked though. But the Zidane headbutt was pretty fun.

I was so torn at the end of the game. I’ve been rooting for Italy all along (I mean, my throat hurts because all I kept shouting was “FORZA ITALIAA…VAI VAI VAI!” and “VAFFANCULO!!”. Okay, fine, I did throw in a “Merde” once or twice  lol), but then they won and France lost, I felt bad for the French .

But I’m proud of the Italians. Sono molto orgogliosa :). Very proud indeed.

oh ok, thx for clarifying dvl.

but seriously, what was the entire point of promoting “no racism”?

italy always tries to bypass the rules and **** people off for no reason. probably mouthing crap the entire game. when someone offends you and crosses the line, you need to do them in. seeing the italian writhe on the ground was the best part.

well done zidane, you’ll remain a legend, nice end to your career. it was a good game, we’ll all remember france … this is what, italy’s 4th time winning the world cup? who cares.

Apparently it was No Racism by the fans only.

there’s more in life than football. f*** those italian racists.

the point of WC is to bring different nationalities/ethnicities together, that italian defender doesnt deserve to play, if he violated the basic principle of the tournament.

i think that italian defender might have said something about zidane’s mother. that would hurt the most. “terrorist” could hurt too.

i would have replied: “haha, you have inferiorty complex, huh? i know you want to be as famous as i am, but it isnt happening, nazi.” if i were zidane.

^yeah man. and no hair too. so like . . direct skull on chest. excellent.

Funny. Some italians I know were going around gloating all day. When asked about racism they flatly denied its existence and instead *****ed about the penalty. Its a very italian thing to belittle anything bad and to exaggerate the good. No wonder they’re stuck in a huge match fixing scandal.

Here in aus, footballs is only starting to take off in terms of popularity but as one of our commentators pointed out- why would our junior soccer players want to play it at proffessional level? THere’s soo much cheating, diving, shirt tugging and cheap shots. Soccer has lost its innocence and sportsmanship and if you have a real alternative- like Rugby and AFL in AUS and Gridiron in the states, soccer as it is can’t compete. No wonder we’re going back to watching rugby (where they have tv umpires and microphones where diving or racism/insults have automatic suspensions).

That was in the 98 world cup. Lol, you don’t mess with this guy. Maybe buffon was calming him out of fear :p

He also headbutted some dude in a Champions League game for a racial slur…got sent off then too. Guess he doesnt take too well to people making assumptions about his Algerian descent

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5142970568688502787&q=Materazzi

The fact that everyone is only talking about Zizou and that Italy is a side story shows the legend that is Zidane. 2006 will be remembered as Zidane’s year where he played his best game (against Brazil in the QFs).

haha i know…the headlines are all “ZIDANE ENDS CAREER, SEES RED: oh and italy win”

it’s fabulous. go zizou.

http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-worldfrancezidanematerazzi&prov=reuters&type=lgns

Article that claims that Materazzi didn’t call Zidane a terrorist. I like the part where he (Materazzi) claims he doesn’t know what terrorist means.

Amazing, I just want to know what was said to ZZ. It seemed like it was over, a few additional words and BAM!

I just wonder what was said to make ZZ stop and headbutt this guy in front of the world. I hope at least, it was something worth a headbutt for.

France didn’t stand a chance when it came down to kicks from the mark. France’s GK is an adventure back there and without a very good back line to bail him out…well Italy knew this and that’s why they played to kicks. Barthez is one of the few Gk that actually makes himself smaller when he dives or comes out. His is 6 feet tall and plays like 5’4". His odd dive right, even dive left was some of the poorest guessing a GK can make. It was a shame to leave the game in his hands. Even Italy’s goal when you watch the replays look at how Barthez reactions take him away from the ball compared to Buffon’s reaction to ZZ header.

Anyway ZZ has had a great career, headbutt or not. France would not even be there if not for his efforts. The headbutt will be remembered but so will everything else.

I would just like to say, for the record, during the PKs Buffon guessed wrong everytime. But then again, the goalposts are a goalie’s best friend. Barthez is a joke as well.

Even though I wholeheartedly agree that Buffon is a better keeper than Barthez…I dont think its fair to criticize his ability right now when Buffon didnt save a shot either.

The French press is saying Matarazzi, or however you spell it, said something about Zidane’s mother. I can’t imagine what would get you that upset you’d head butt someone.

69,000 people? well in the stadium maybe…try 1 billion…pretty daunting task, i’d say
