Worst Dressed: When Ugly AND Expensive Meet

@BunsenBurner, that beautiful formal dress you bought, followed by that incredibly ugly cat sweater, are what pop up on my screen. What a combination.

This is one of my favorite threads ever. I love it when it reappears after a long absence.

I follow NYTimes fashion on Instagram, and the men’s fall shows just ended. Oh my, some really ugly duds for the dudes.

^^Space dudes in their jammies ;))

And men in skirts. I thought it was freedom when women got to wear pants. Men in skirts is very silly. Skirts are terribly restricting.

^^A man with a good set of thighs in a real kilt is very sexy.

^ agree!

My H wore a kilt at our wedding and he has excellent legs!

A kilt is not a skirt. B-) But those duds are seriously ugly. I know for sure that Mr. B would not take out the garbage in any of those outfits!

A slide show of the new shoe designs:

IMO, the majority of this footwear is ugly and no doubt very expensive.

My vote for the ugliest pair goes to the Jesus boot.

Oh wow. The crystal ball sandals look dangerous! I didn’t know I was supposed to wear my animal slipper with fishnets.

Wow–most of those look fairly dangerous and could double as weapons. I think the TSA might confiscate them!

The Gucci shoes seem so clumsy and poorly-balanced.

I like most of the Prada ones except for the boots that look like somebody is wearing a poodle.

Dolce and Gabbana is creatively bankrupt

The Moschino and Ferragamo boots are cool, especially the gold gravity heel Ferragamo. The girls have some gravity wedges and while it doesn’t look like you’d be able to walk in them at all, they’re actually fairly stable.

The Marni crystal ball shoes are a joke played on people who have too much money-the contruction is so shoddy, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I think my fave was #20, the maroon and pink suede lace up boots by Stella Jean. I’d wear 'em!

LOL the “foam lined” Christopher Kane shoes #28-that’s more art than footwear-it’s definitely making a statement.

I loved #56 where you could see the model’s toes squooshed into the shoe

I don’t know
the pink and brown furry boots are pretty ugly as are the sandals with sponges on them.

The sandals with sponges look like recycling gone amok. I’m sure you would turn heads (in a bad way) the first time those sandals were worn!

The sandals with foam sponges look like a home-made fix for shoes that chafe.

^^That’s why I thought it was more art than footwear-the social commentary from the foam

I can’t imagine who would look good in this or where you would go in it.
