I liked the green Gucci with the shoulder pads from here to eternity, if it didn’t have the shoulders or even the sleeves. The dress itself was fine, and I really liked the fabric.
Reminds me (in reverse) of the expression “If we had some bacon we could have bacon and eggs, if we had some eggs”. I dislike the green dress. The shoulder pads are ridiculous, and thats the way the dress is made.
So some may disagree, but these are , IMO, ugly and/or ridiculous:

(the colors and beads are interesting, but the dress— $10K? um, no.) Now if someone could pull this off- good for them. Its overall prettier than that other see through number, but still…
The Marchesa dress, if dyed green, would look like a Christmas tree.
This one too, @BunsenBurner https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/marchesa-notte-tiered-v-neck-gown/product/0400098039246?clickType=PRODUCT_RECOMMENDATIONS
whats with massive sleeves this season? keep these gems out of your soup https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/chiara-boni-la-petite-robe-ary-puff-sleeve-column-gown/product/0400098893743?site_refer=DFA_RMK_S5_CRITEO
I also liked the Oscar de la Renta Illusion Tulle Floral A-Line Dress. I think the sheer over solid is a bit silly, but at least it’s a pretty dress showing through, not a bathing suit.
Now if you want to talk about sleeves covering your hands, or even “just” poofing or flairing out past the elbows, I’m with you all the way!
Well those of you who like that glorified petticoat, if you spend $7k on it, post a photo!! I personally do not care for oranges and yellows, which makes it additionally unattractive to me. But, as they say, 'a chacun de ses propres.
I liked the Oscar illusion floral. I’d like to be able to throw away 7K on it.
The puffy sleeves will keep you from having to take a purse with you. Or even a suitcase.
Well, Gucci is really outdoing itself this season - those are all just horrible. The Marchesa and other dresses are not all so terribly bad, in my humble opinion, but for most people violate the rule of “wearing the dress” rather than the dress wearing them. Those dresses definitely will overshadow most women.
I knew that I could count on net-a-porter for a few lovelies:

Woah, we’re combining the Christmas tree with the sheer over bathing suit look!
I don’t get the two completely clashing fabric look, but the first Richard Quinn dress is, I think an interesting idea, I think I might almost like it if it were one fabric.
Richard Quinn really resembles a shower curtain. I notice they have no human models foolish enough to wear the latter two offerings.
@HImom - click on the other views or the “How to wear it” tab.
time to pull out the old shoulder pads>>>>>>>>
Ew, ouch, flashback to “Dynasty” and the Carrington women!
@BunsenBurner — the Quinn dress looks even sillier with the pink poofy back that they never fully display on photos.
Oh I think this one is just luscious.

^^ And the wearer could act as a stiffer duster…
The proportions of the tiers on those Marchesa dresses are just all wrong. Totally lacking in grace. And they look as if they just tack another one on the bottom depending on how tall you are!
That dress with the puff sleeves is not something that one is intended to dine in. Or sit in, for that matter.
@Gourmetmom , you really struck gold there. The black tulle dress looks like a black Silkie chicken.
Not to mention that apparently the bra is up to you–I thought it was part of the dress-- and the one shown is an additional $150!
The purple ruffled number would look great if Olivia DeHaviland were wearing it in a 19th century costume drama.
I find the Quinn:shower curtain comparison particularly apt.
