Worst Dressed: When Ugly AND Expensive Meet

How about these? Aren’t they just the cat’s meow?

So that’s what they mean by kitten heels.

LOL!!!

OMG!!! This add showed up on my FB and I had to run here to share. $1,250 for a sweater that looks like something from the Old Navy girl’s department

Now that is a definite waste of cashmere!

$995 for a denim jacket??? I’d like to know what kind of “new job” will enable me to afford stuff like this, that doesn’t involve unmarked bills… And this selection of clothes hasn’t even gotten up to the “Promotion!” portion of the fashion selections.

What’s with that bias cut skirt on the right that hangs funny? And that “henley” dress would look good on exactly nobody.

You left off the $557 “navy suede tote” which is another way of saying denim man-purse.

Suede is not denim. It’s a suede man-purse.

That’s one ugly page of clothing. Allow me to call your attention to what appear to be $14 black nylon culottes, third from the left under “Better Pants.” Rule of thumb: if it already looks wrinkled in the photos, it’s going to look like an unmade bed when you put it on.

It looks denim in the photo was my point . . .

It looks ugly in the photo, I think we can agree on that.

It is a send up of those purses that one sewed in the 70s from the butt of old jeans with the pocket and red tag and all. I wonder if Levi Strauss will sue.

All those clothes looked like something off the rack from Kmart in the late 70’s. Who knew it was high fashion? It’s like a dress up guide for clothes from a vintage store but paying significantly more.

The Donna Karan cotton canvas dress at about $2500 is particularly hideous and looks too small for the model. They even suggest covering it up with a cardigan!

Wouldn’t it be fun to spoof this article with clothes actually purchased at a vintage store? “Her cotton canvas dress, tag missing, cost $7 and is paired with a cashmere cardigan (needs repair) that cost $5.75”

Maybe she’s got it on backwards?

The Donna Karan dress just doesn’t fit her. It’s too small on the bottom, but notice how it’s gaping at the neckline. Another rule of thumb: if it doesn’t even fit the model, it won’t fit you either.

I believe the long-haired woman in #1 pulled the outfit from her cedar chest - she last wore it in 1980. And what is with 7/8 length sleeves?

The $60 Aldo platforms are just as ugly as the ones costing 10-20 times that. And wearing in the office? Ha. $1300 inappropriate shoes are still inappropriate (and ugly).

Mr. Trench Coat is showing up at a new job with no socks on? What’s his job, lifeguard?

There’s a WSJ article on Spring fashion trends for men, where readers can vote:

If it’s your first day at work, it’s uncouth. We really don’t even need to debate this. Didn’t his mama teach him anything??

“All those clothes looked like something off the rack from Kmart in the late 70’s. Who knew it was high fashion? It’s like a dress up guide for clothes from a vintage store but paying significantly more.”

Bingo! Style of the 70’s is apparently the theme of the season. I’m going to skip the trend - sticking with my 21st century closet contents.

"Paul Smith navy silk shorts, $1,005; "

Those navy silk shorts look like the PE uniform we were forced to wear in fifth grade!
