It’s depressing now when our kids pull stuff out of our closet and coo, “vintage…”
Stumbled upon this little gem:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/burberry-prorsum-ostrich-feather-hem-jean-jacket/3964524
For a measly 3 grand you can get a rockstar chicken costume! Get yours before it is too late, only size 8 is left!
I hesitate to click on that link, as ever since I looked at the $1250 Burberry old navy knock off from nordstroms, that dam sweater appears as a suggested item I might like! (Mostly here at CC, but on some other sites too)
OMG that is three grand just for a jean jacket??? And an ugly one too. I can do the same thing to a Levi jacket by spending $10 at JoAnns.
Who buys this crap??
surfcity, it puzzles me, too!
Love the fish scale skirt too. Yikes.
Actually, this was waiting on the side of that awful denim jacket as a suggestion:
I don’t care for it particularly – not to mention it’s $6,500 – but check out the model’s shoes. I guess this is the footwear one wears with a $6,500 suede trench coat.
The Wall Street Journal should stick to just reporting financial news:
“this season’s edgy remix of traditional prettiness”
http://www.wsj.com/articles/springs-intellectual-floral-fashion-1428516793
I was especially intrigued (in a horror way) the blue floral number from Sacai. Since the WSJ article didn’t report the prices of the Sacai pieces, I started googling. Here’s the cost of similarly “edgy” stuff from the designer:
Sacai, Paneled cotton, twill and chiffon maxi dress
$5,133.11
https://www.net-a-porter.com/product/546692/Sacai/paneled-cotton-twill-and-chiffon-maxi-dress
This item really raises (lowers?) the bar:
Sacai, Layered shearling-trimmed leather gilet
$4,700.65
https://www.net-a-porter.com/product/546694/Sacai/layered-shearling-trimmed-leather-gilet
Some of these “intellectual florals” look like something Maria from The Sound of Music would craft out of those fancy drapes…
Rofl.
priceless! lol.
" I guess this is the footwear one wears with a $6,500 suede trench coat."
Can’t see well on my iPhone, but those sneakers look like a pair of Valentinos I saw at Nordstrom the other day. I ran past the shoe department, but had to stop and take a look! I think those cost close to a grand! Eek.
But it “mixes utilitarian and romantic elements” . . . that’s got to count for something.
“edgy” is a code word for ugly
Calling it “avant garde” means it’s edgy + expensive
These florals are “sad,” “intellectual,” and “not girly,” I guess compared to all of the other pretty and flattering florals we’re used to seeing. That’s important, though, because if you’re going to spend “$8,000 for a dress, you need to wear it 50 times.” I hope everyone got that. It’s a price per wear of $160 - not bad at all!
The floral dress with the military jacket built in is ugly and ridiculously expensive, but, as a general concept, I kind of like the combo of a tailored military jacket with a feminine, floral print dress. Is this going to be a thing? Any thoughts?
The only things in my closet that get worn 50x are my boring clothes, like a grey cotton Tshirt.
Cost: $15
Price per wear: 30 cents per wear
Utility: priceless
I agree, only my workout clothes get that amount of wear. I’m old enough to remember wearing a faded jean jacket over flowing floral dresses…it was a cute look in the 80s, and certainly could still look great with some updating. If you’ve looked at any of the recent photos from Coachella, there are lots of similar Bohemian style looks.
These just showed up on my facebook sidebar and I immediately thought of you, @BunsenBurner. They would definitely keep you up out of the puddles! They are kind of grandma Easy Spirit meets Famolare Get There meets George Clinton funkadelic.
^^^ Shucks. They don’t have my size.
This is so ridiculous that it looks like Saks could not even find a real person to model it!
