“Wanted” was pretty terrible.

I took my DS to the Power Rangers movie. I literally fell asleep. Good thing he stayed put!

I can’t believe some people put Pulp Fiction on this list. My favorite movie!

I just remembered anothe one. Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Literally walked out after 15 minutes.

mini - I didn’t know there was a movie “Woman in the Dunes.” That’s too bad. I liked the book.

^^^ Speaking of dunes - the original “Dune” (the David Lynch one) was a complete and utter abomination, just a horrible adaption of one of the best sci-fi novels of all time.

If you hadn’t read the book, it was impossible to follow the muddled convoluted plot. If you had read the book, you were just PO’d at how the book had been butchered. Throw in some of the most wooden acting ever seen, along with really cheesy special effects, and it was just a disaster.

went to press screening of “Sanctum” a few weeks ago. My husband is a cave diver and knows a few people that were involved with the original pitch, so he got free passes in exchange for being interviewed afterwards. It was a horror movie, not a movie about diving. I walked out after an hour, as the 3D IMAX made me nauseous.

Meg Ryan did make more movies after Kate and Leopold (which was horrible on more than one level). Right now, however, she is dating John Mellencamp. Even tho K&L hardly even qualified as a rom-com, at least it introduced Hugh Jackman to a wider audience. Yum!

Notrichenough – Brace yourself. [Dune (2014) - IMDb](Dune (2021) - IMDb) Though there is currently some question as to whether it will, in fact, be made. They’ve had a change of directors and a complete reworking of the script (by the screenwriter of Taken).

Avatar. I HATED that movie so much. Other dreadfuls: Bright Angel, Coming to America, Jaws, Midnight Cowboy, and…Deep Throat!

Did not read the whole thread so sorry if this is a repeat:
POKEMON: The Movie

Took my young sons who knew EXACTLY what what going on and loved it. The parents all looked like deer in the headlights. I remember praying for a power outage and practically crying from boredom.

Clockwork Orange remains my most disliked movie ever.

Another hated flick: the Burt Reynolds one where he and friends got captured by local hillbilles. Great music, but hated the film

I think that was Deliverance.
i also hated Open Water still have a bad feeling when I think of it.

Last Tango in Paris…didn’t really know anything about it before going in. Hated it and quickly walked out.

Midnight Cowboy??? Guess some people like their movies sterilized.

Napoleon Dynamite by far.

This thread keeps inspiring me! Lost in Translation and Broken Flowers. Both starring Bill Murray, both pretentious and terrible and inexplicably praised by critics. Would fit comfortably in the circular file with Punch Drunk Love. I think there are some films that have “emperor’s new clothes” syndrome. One critic pontificates about how profound and groundbreaking a movie is, and the others are afraid of sounding shallow and stupid if they say they don’t like it.

Awful - The Color Purple

Great - Pulp Fiction

Barely made it through Eclipse (sorry Twilight fans) and Salt. Good thing I didn’t pay for either of these (watched it on a really long flight) and slept through most of them.

Castaway

Wow, some of your hated movies are on my list of “loved” movies. Goes to show how different we all are.

I realized I had suppressed my real least favorite: Brian de Palma’s “Blow Out” with John Travolta. Worst ending ever.

Actually, I loved “Open Water” because it was scary and believeable.

I think it was Roger Ebert who was chastised for praising the movie “Halloween” and who replied “It’s scary. If you don’t want to be scared, don’t see it!”
