Most top schools like to get some kind of mid-year report telling them what you’ve done since you applied, what your grades were, etc. UCLA, however, is not most schools. Would sending them a letter put a red flag on my application? I was not asked for supplemental information, so I’m thinking they really don’t want anything.

most schools don’t do that…i have a feeling only private schools like to.

i applied to RPI, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, and 3 UCs…only Northwestern wanted a midyear report. GT explicity said to not send any transcripts or additional information until they asked. the UCs do the same thing.
