Would it be tacky to wear the same MOG dress twice?

Here’s a wedge shoe idea at a very nice price point.

That’s a pretty necklace, BB, but not a good shape for me. It has to be longer.

First step, order the dress and see if it fits. I’m worried the shoulders won’t fit me.

This isn’t exactly it (I was picturing a drop which may be more flattering given the neckline of the dress) but this is kind of what I’m thinking. It’s not perfectly shaped which gives it interest, and it could echo silver shoes but not be too silvery. Lighter grays are of the moment for fall and I know that’s important to you

Oh, Pizzagril… Now I need the calla lily necklace pictured next to the one you linked. Not really “need”, but callas are my favorite flowers. :)

CF, if you really want to splurge on your shoes… This one was designed by a chemical engineer who got invited to a wedding and was shocked she could not find footwear that was comfy and stylish at the same time, and so the Anyi Lu shoe brand was born (or so the story goes):

This is a versatile shoe that would work well and flatter the leg.

This is also a nice shoe:

Wow! I go away for the day and this thread turned into a love fest . . . nice! :-*

Dresses, shoes, accessories tend to bring a lot of women together.

This dress popped up in email from Saks this morning. Would be very nice for an Oct. wedding, imo. Pricey though.

A few months ago when I had a wedding to go to - I wore my LBD and lilac fox wrap. It worked really well and was a fancier look than just a regular wrap. It was similar to this but lilac and had a pretty lilac ribbon to tie it in the front. <a href=“Surell Accessories Fox Stole Scarves Wraps Bloomingdales com - Stylehive”>http://www.stylehive.com/bookmark/Surell-Accessories-Fox-Stole--Scarves--Wraps--Bloomingdalescom-290434</a></p>

Hate weddings on grass. Ruined the heels on a pair of black strappy shoes last summer. But, I am short so need the height from heels and dress was very flow-y and called for regular high heel shoes.

That is a great dress on the right person.

Along with my wide shoulders, I have wide feet. Maybe I’m not a big shoe fan because I can’t fit my flippers in all those fashionable shoes.

Emilybee’s dress has an interesting honest note: “Model shown is 5’10” wearing US size 4." Makes one think about how a dress that is so pretty on a bird-boned model would work on someone of more typical proportions.

CF - I also have wide feet (duck feet). It wasn’t until I discovered Italian (European) shoes that I realized I could wear some pretty heels. They tend to cut their shoes wider because Europeans have wider feet than Americans. One theory is that they do more walking than Americans so their feet are wider.

@emilybee, I love that dress! Although I could never wear it. :(

Also note the length. The dress would be virtually tea-length on a person who is about 5’5". And it could not be shortened at the hem.

I see similar dresses at elle tahari, for much less money.

This thread promises to be a homerun; have you seen the #of viewers?

^ It’s possible a good seamstress could take it up where the sheer part of dress meets the heavier fabric part. I have had to have that done on a few dresses.

I think it is very hard to know how something will look on anyone. I never would buy a dress, pants, etc., online for that reason. Also, a lot of times I haven’t liked a dress when seeing it on the rack, but after trying it on it looks great on me.

It’s also rare for me to find a dress that doesn’t need to be taken in, hemmed, etc, because I’m short and petite. I do most of my shopping at a boutique in my town that has a seamstress on staff - so if I like something but it doesn’t fit right she comes right in and does all the pinning. She will also tell me what I need done to make it fit properly can’t be done.

That dress would be pretty tea-length, I think.

Oldfort, I have never found that Italian shoes fit my duck feet, but I’ve been so convinced that Italian shoes are narrow that I haven’t lately tried them. I’ll give them another try. Trouble is, stylish shoes are not shaped in any way like my foot. Stylish shoes come to a point at the toe. My foot comes to a point at the heel.

Earlier in the thread we talked about silk, and its wrinkling qualities. Good silk resists wrinkling. I’d love to grab a handful of that $750 dress and crush it, to see if they are using good silk or pawning off lower-quality silk on their buyers. The $750 price may reflect a higher quality fabric.

Good grief. First world ‘problems’. I wonder what the OP’s future daughter in law said about the dress.

CF, how about a shoe like this for the oct wedding?

Hey now, TatinG, we’ve moved on from first world problems to first world solutions like pretty $750 silk dresses.
