Cole Hahn makes shoes a bit wider than other designer shoes. I tend to walk out of them whenever I try them on. I heard the same thing this weekend about Nike.

“Good grief. First world ‘problems’. I wonder what the OP’s future daughter in law said about the dress.”

Lots of topics on CC are first-world problems – for example, not being able to carry flowers to a child’s graduation because the POTUS is speaking.

Here are some value-priced nude patent wedges with a rounder toe. Not as beautiful as some of the shoes others have posted, but for $59 the price can’t be beat. Nine West shoes tend to be roomier in the toe area.

Oops, the link in my previous post shows leopard shoes but you can choose beige patent

I always find that Nine West are comfortable for long standing and generally wear well.

My favorite flats with a bit of heel is Ara. I have a pair of Prada pointed 2 in pumps that I bought 5 years ago I still wear. They are bluish purple and they go with almost anything. I can walk 10+ blocks with those shoes.

I do really well with DSW for shoes. I have gotten Prada flats and Missoni peep toe patterned flats each for less than $100 when they retail for $400+. Both of them (well, all 4 of them) are long gone, but I got my money’s worth. Today I was wearing Ferragamo flats that I got at a resale shop. I anticipate they’ll last long as well.

Nine West kill my feet.

I’ve never had any luck at DSW. I must be doing something wrong.

I have a really good DSW by me. Their selection does vary in different locations.

Well…this thread sure has had some action since I last read it. How did we get on shoes?

I never have had a speck of luck at DSW.

Back to the dress…the feeling I am getting is that if one gets a fancy, nice dress for a special occasion, they should plan never to wear it again…especially if it is for a wedding or other family function.

Really? Guess I should clean out my closet. I have some lovely dresses that I’ve worn to family weddings and the like. And I would like to think I will wear them again. I also have a good friend who is my size, and we have swapped dresses a number of times.

Re: the MOG dress. My opinion…the MOG has to feel comfortable, and good in whatever she wears. Assuming there isn’t any objection from the groom and bride (because that same dress will be in all the wedding pics)…MOG should wear that dress she loves.

Heavens…no one objects when wedding dresses are worn by multiple sisters. We knew a family where all three sisters wore the SAME wedding dress.

Speaking of first world problems, this thread has made me think about department stores of yore that I enjoyed in various places: I Magnin (Chicago), Bonwit Teller and B. Altman (NYC), and Jacobson’s (Michigan).

Me too.

Oh… Jacobson’s… the headquarters were in my hometown. It was sad when they went out of business… our downtown has never been the same since.

I just got a coupon in my inbox that would reduce the $59 sale price on the Nine West shoes to $29. I have to keep telling myself: " Do not succumb to Emilybee’s exquisite shoes. Do. Not. Do. It. Even. Once." I have a feeling that once you go for the $500 shoes there is no turning back.

Nine West shoes feel like shoes. Must. Not. Learn. What. Emilybee. Shoes. Feel. Like.

P.S. Do you think those sandals you posted will go on sale soon?

P.P.S. Not judging shoe prices. Just managed to avoid expensive shoes my whole life, partly b/c I can’t fit in European 41.5’s. (Nine West size 11’s run large).

What is the deal with designer shoes being so narrow anyway?
I also love going barefoot, and go barefoot as much as possible.
Or wear my five fingers or sandals.
I hate when I have to start wearing shoes and socks again.

Im trying to be more of a minimalist, and not have closets full of clothes I never wear.
Except I collect jackets & bra tops.

“Well…this thread sure has had some action since I last read it. How did we get on shoes?”

Thumper, lol! That’s good ol’ CC! You missed our discussion of bicycles!

We have several DSWs in the area. One sells mostly cheap plastic-y crap, but the bigger one carries nice stuff. I got a pair of really nice Gucci pumps at DSW. I haven’t taken them apart, but form the outside they look line an authentic product. Mr B gets his dress Eccos form that sore, too (he has never set his foot in it, though).

EK, there is the latest scoop on five fingers: they are damaging to the toes. Because they put a fairly thick layer of rubber in between the toes, the toes are always unnaturally spread apart, and that can permanently damage the bone structure of the foot. So in a nutshell, they are nothing like walking barefoot (says this experienced barefoot walker).

Speaking of stores of the past… I miss my Bon Marche! Macy’s is terrible.

The rubber isn’t actually between the toes, its just on the pads of toes and under the ball of foot & heel, they are more like work gloves ( at least the ones I have- and they are kangaroo, which stays pliable even after its been wet.)
And very comfortable. They really help me feel the ground, and since my toes tend to be squished together in other shoes, wearing them once or twice a week eases my foot pain.
Spreading your toes out is good for you and it feels really good.

I have had bunion surgery on one foot, and as Id like to keep from having it on my other foot, I try and give my feet as much freedom as I can.

I don’t run in them however- as I don’t run at all.

I don’t own a dressy shoe that doesnt eventually, over the course of an evening, hurt my feet, but NW hurt the minute I put my foot in.

I like open toe sandals, for work or dress.
