would this be rude?

I want to apply to Cornell and Dartmouth but i am afraid that with low senior grades, i wont get in. My first semester is complete but my teacher did not post my grade yet (he has until the 13th of jan to do so). Would it be rude if i emailed him and asked him that i need to know my grade because if i get a C, i dont plan on applying to these schools, and the deadline for the schools is Jan 1?

You can ask your grade early, but he probably won’t have them ready. Don’t phrase it like you did here, though. Be polite. I don’t see the issue with asking, though.

Wow you ruined your chances as a senior this year? That is sad, too bad for you

I would apply either way really. You never know what could happen. You can ask him though

i would ask - i dont find that rude at all. It helps to know your grade in deciding whether to drop those ivies - or even switch them for other schools you may have greater chances to get into. If you tell your teacher this he should oblige!
