What has been your experience? I see refurbished ipads, iphones, and vitamix’s at a lower cost.
Is it like buying a used car that is certified from the dealer? Refurbished items are always cheaper and affordable.
I bought a refurbished fax machine once for home use. It was fine.
We bought a refurbished Bissell carpet shampooer. We used it a lot for about 8 years. It was less than $100…retails for more than $300. We felt we got our money’s worth.
I bought our Dyson vacuum refurbished 10 years ago. It’s still going strong. I think it depends on the item and your willingness to take a chance on the item.
Is there a chance of getting a lemon? Do they usually come with some warranty or can an extended warranty be purchased?
I’ve bought factory refurbished macs from Apple. They come with the same warranty as new and have had really good luck with them.
My parents bought a refurbished iMac. It was fine, no problems and warranted. Much cheaper and like brand new.
We got factory refurbished Dell computers that lasted longer than our newly purchased Mac and other PCs.

We’ve bought refurbished ipads, iphones, ipods, and Dell products direct from the companies. They’ve performed just fine. I think H’s refurbished ipod is on it’s 6th or 7th year. It’s a model they no longer make with a capacity for 20k songs or something like that. My son buys all kinds of refurbished stuff for his business and never had run into a problem.
We have bought four Apple computers, all refurbished. A friend who works at Apple told me to always go with “refurbished”. Even if the item has never been used, if the box seal is broken, they call it “refurbished”. Frequently that’s all it is.

I’ve not bought Apple products refurbished, but I’ve bought a DVD player refurbished, and my H routinely buys medical equipment refurbished - including his mammogram machine. There are companies which specialize in this field, including providing service.
My husband’s phone is refurbished. We’ve bought refurbished laptops as well. No issues.
I have a refurbed dell, and younger D has a refurbed LGG2. Both are fine.
I usually buy refurbished electronics. Most of them are just store returns that can’t legally be resold as “new.” They do a quality check and resell as “refurbished.” Great way to save money.
We have an Apple wifi router that I bought refurbished from Apple. We’ve had it for several years and never a day of trouble.
My son got a refurbished phone to replace his old one that wouldn’t hold a charge. The new one had the same problem.
S bought a refurbished iPhone to replace his phone with the cracked screen. It was cheaper than getting the screen fixed. So far, so good. He’s waiting for the next release before using his update.
