Would you prefer to have math first or last period of the day?

Specifically Geometry?

I took geometry last year, and it was my last period. I had a great teacher, but she constantly went on tangents, and I found myself getting distracted a lot. I prefer taking math classes earlier, because even first period, I’m more alert. I just want to get out by the end of the day.

Ever since the eighth grade, math has always been my last period class. 6th (out of 6 classes) Algebra 1, 7th (out of 7) Geometry, 7th (out of 7) Alg 2/Trig, 6th (out of 6) PreCalc Honors, and now 5th (out of 5) AP Calculus BC. In my opinion, it’s not bad, but it does get very annoying. But I am more awake by then, so that’s another huge plus.

Neither, I prefer having math second period because I’m not really awake in first period and by 8th period, my eyes start glazing over and I can’t really concentrate any more.

I actually love end of the day math, strangely. I am less hungry and sleepy after lunch, and I don’t get bored or restless as easily because I am just a little bit more sedate by that point.

For the past 2 years I’ve had math for first period (7:05am) and it’s been horrible. I’m terrible at math as it is, but having it first thing in the morning makes it worse as I have to fight to stay awake and I end up missing a lot of information. I would probably prefer to have it in the middle of the day.

I think if I had to choose between the two, I would pick morning over afternoon. But, that said, I think having it as my second class, similar to what @Phantomlink suggested, would be the best option. It would give me time to wake up and cram a little bit if needed.

10th grade: Math was 3rd period
11th grade: Math was 3rd period
12th grade: Math is 5th period

I miss 3rd period math.

We have 7 total periods (although one of them is dedicated to study hall/lunch)

My school has 8, with one being split between lunch and homeroom. Most people have 6 class periods, with one study hall.

I have had math for first period for the last three years, and I loveeee it. I have it second period next semester though

I’ve had math as my lunch period for the past 4 years and English last period for the last 4 yeas as well. I guess it’s just a coincidence.

I hate having math as my lunch period, I’m too tired and hungry to pay attention. I’d recommend having math 1st period because you’ll have the energy to actually pay attention and you can get the class over with
