Would you travel to Europe in the near future?

My H and I have a trip booked leaving the end of April to both Holland and France. I had not considered cancelling but several people have expressed opinions that we should not go. I am of the mindset that if we wait for the ideal time to travel we would never go anywhere. I have always had that view about Israel but never thought I would need that same view for Western Europe.
Would love to hear opinions.

I would not cancel a thing (in fact, I am planning some travel). I would be mainly concerned with making my flights if the connections are tight due to heightened security.

I am currently planning travel to Vienna and Prague in late summer. I was in both France and Belgium last year and I would not hesitate to travel again anywhere in Europe if the opportunity presented itself. Being scared of Paris / Brussels is like the proverbial locking the barn door after the horse has gotten out. Bad guys can and will strike where they like.

Yes, I would.

Go, enjoy yourself and take advantage of the strong US dollar. What a great time of year to go!

Before the bombings, we had made early summer travel plans which include both Paris and Brussels and we aren’t changing anything.

I haven’t quit going to movie theaters here in the US, either.

We are going to London and Paris end of May-June and not canceling. We will be following the recommendations for safe travel including registering with STEP and making sure we have medical evacuation insurance coverage. http://thepointsguy.com/2016/03/stay-safe-while-traveling-abroad-with-these-tips/

I also would not cancel. I’m going to Brussels in August anyway. I figure the airport will be as safe as it can ever be. The security forces will be doing their thing. Terrorism can happen here too; I’m not going to stop going into NYC because of it. You have to live your life.

Nope. Planning Barcelona, Paris and London in May.

I would go to Europe but H has said he has so many other places he wants to see, so we are going to Taiwan and other countries that we are both interested in visiting first. We also want to go to Japan and Australia & New Zealand, as well as seeing more of Canada.

D1 is going to London for work in 2 weeks. D2 and I are going to Italy in May. Not cancelling.
We used to go to London when there were all of those issues with Northern Ireland. There were bombings in London.

Going to Italy and Spain in June for a month. We did make slight changes - spending more time outside of big to avoid big crowds.

I’d keep an eye on the State Department advisories. http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings.html

Everybody enjoy your trips!

Am leaving soon for Germany and Greece. There is a stop in western Turkey. Am a little uncomfortable with that, but surely if its not safe, they won’t stop there.

We will be back in France later this year. We will be in Paris for about a month. No hesitation.

Cancelled our plans to travel to Iceland/Scotland for Japan instead, BUT only because the airfare was cheaper. I would have no hesitation to travel to Europe.

Nope, leaving for Holland and Belgium in two weeks.

I only wish that I had plans to travel. These days, we’re vulnerable everywhere. I’m going to live my life - sensibly, making sure to keep up with current events and official warnings - and not allow the terrorists to diminish my scope.

S2 and a friend are spending a month in Europe after their May graduation. They are going to 9 (yes, I know, nuts) countries including several that have been named as possible targets (France, the UK, Netherlands, Germany).

Obviously I will worry but they are comfortable going, so we are not discouraging them.

Yes I am! My husband and I are going to Rome in September and I am SO EXCITED!!!
