It wouldn’t matter what she wore or how she did her makeup or what jewelry she chose or how she styled her hair, there would still be very critical comments being made about her here and elsewhere.
Good God, I sure hope she knows what she is getting into.
^I imagine she THINKS she does, since she’s already a celebrity, but she has no idea…
I loved everything about the wedding. And if you want to know about what an amazing person Ms Markle is read this

I think she’s getting into a lot less than if Megan and Harry–or Harry and anyone else—got married 10 years ago when he was third in line to the throne. And I suspect the fact that he is now 6th meant that they had greater freedom in planning their wedding.
I look at the clothing but mainly think about the people. The extended royal family has been a good example of people screwing up, making up, learning from their mistakes, and not giving up.
I wish she werent a target… and I do mean from us.
I guess we’ll see. I believe, though, they’ll be hounded mercilessly. They’re both attractive and popular and people love seeing photos of them. They’ll be under constant scrutiny. I hope they can make it to Botswana often to get away from everybody.
I want to hear details of what went on inside the private informal evening reception!! But I’m guessing they had a ‘check your cell phones at the door’ policy:)
Now we all get to start guessing where they are going on their honeymoon. My guess…Botswana
I’m happy to see that it was a day of joy for them, and for their guests. There will always be people who want to criticize and pick apart every detail. She is a lovely, intelligent and kind young woman and it is crystal clear that she adores him so he must be pretty great, too. May the happiness they’ve found in the past couple of years continue for many years to come.
Maybe she likes the way she looks when her hair is “messy” or maybe she did it because Harry likes her hair that way. I watched the wedding on ABC, and they relayed a story that when she met Harry in Botswana, she had a single rucksack for a five day trip and Harry loved that about her. Maybe the messy bun is symbolic of low maintenance, and that’s who she is and part of what he fell for.
I thought she was a gorgeous bride. I loved some of the photos that viewed the dress through the veil - stunning.
My mom, in addition to believing wedding guests should never wear white, also believed guests should never wear outfits that said, “Look at me”. She wouldn’t have liked Amal’s choice for that reason. She would have chosen a dress like James Corden’s wife. Is that still a thing?
The CBS commentators (including Oprah Winfrey’s BFF Gayle King) said that Oprah’s dress was a last-minute selection, which she felt compelled to make after finding out her first choice looked “too white” and thus was inappropriate for a wedding.
@rosered55 IMO Oprah’s dressed was not flattering. Unfortunately, she looked as if she’d been stuffed into it.
I think the last-minuteness of the dress choice is a reason for that. She might have made a better choice if not doing it the day before the wedding.
@rosered55 My understanding is, it was the same dress, different color. Regardless, it was a pretty dress, just too small
I did not watch the wedding but have seen some of the photographs. In the photos I have seen, it looked like Kate’s dress was white or maybe just barely off-white. I would have expected her to wear another color.
I could not wear that mustard color, but I thought Amal wore it well. And Kitty looked stunning. I thought her hat was fabulous. So many of those head pieces look like a clip-on decoration to me.
I loved the simplicity of Megan’s dress. In this day of butt-hugging clothes, it did look very loose, but I like that.
@csfmap , I totally agree with your Mom about Amal. Amal loves to draw attention to herself, away from others. I follow her fashion and I’ve noticed this about her. It’s in poor taste. Kate on the other hand, showed a lot of class. Her outfit was one she’d worn a few times before. I think she did that on purpose to not draw attention to herself on Meghan’s day.
I’m watching the carriage procession now. Some of the horses look quite nervous. I feel for them. Particularly one of the first two white horses.
Conmama - that’s an interesting theory that makes a whole lot of sense . The commentators said, and I believe it, for a royal wedding there are no random and casual decisions, everything is thought out and done with purpose. If that is the reason Kate wore that dress, how classy she is.
@conmama I believe that I read something like that about Kate’s outfit for her sister’s wedding. I seem to remember that she wore something nondescript to keep attention on her sister. She also stayed in the background with the children (who were also in that wedding) and did not make a big entrance into the church. I didn’t see her make an entrance into the chapel yesterday, either, and the dress was very plain. It was certainly gracious of her to be self-effacing to allow other women their day. I read somewhere that she always wears an “old” outfit when she attends a wedding.
