<p>In the interest of full disclosure, “we” have taken a standard rating system used by many forums as a way to guide other users as to the experience/active participation of the poster being rated. When this new system was rolled out on CC a few weeks ago, a small but now burgeoning group made a game of green square/reputation acquisition and we have pretty much blown the integrity of the system. Hopefully, the foolishness will wear over time and the green squares will come to have useful meaning in the future on CC but for now, join in knowing you are participating in devaluing something that had potential to be useful. </p>
<p>That said, we have been having a LOT of fun and it is great camaraderie building on the forum. Rep away and we will gladly hit you back!</p>
<p>And sax, swimkidsdad, churchmom, et al-there are moral questions at stake. The system forces us to spread the love widely and monogamy is completely discouraged. Can you live with that?</p>

<p>Strictly speaking, we have taken advantage of a loophole that would not occur on most forums that have implemented this system. The reason we can “move up” to maximum points so quickly is because this website has been in existence for many years and some members have over 10,000 posts. On a younger forum with less traffic, even the most elite poster would be unlikely to be able to give out more than 8 or 10 points at a time and getting to 2000 would be a year-long quest.</p>

<p>You can only get actual feedback from someone you clicked on – it doesn’t show up in your control panel. However, your total should be calculate-able:
- 2 points for every year since you joined
- 1 point per every 500 posts you have made
- 1 point for each 100 green-box rep points you have</p>
<p>In your case, that’s 8 points for years, zero for posts, and 20 for your 2000 green square points, or 28 all together.</p>
<p>Edit: I assume you mean how many points you are giving, not how many your received.</p>

<p>Lorem, I wanted to know both my score (which is 2091 apparently) and how many points I am able to bestow-but have been too lazy/busy to attempt the math. So 28 is your calculation. I’ll try to pay attention when I rep someone to see if I can catch that. Thanks for taking the time to explain.</p>
<p>And Lorem, the “intergrity” we have blown, in my opinion, is that we took to repping one another for sport, not as a reflection of one’s earned value. New or old forum membership, a few points at a time or many, we have been doing it for the downright fun of it. But I would rep you anyhow because you are a very helpful poster!</p>
<p>I’m posting to remind you all that I’m out here. Lonely. Wondering. When, oh when, will I get to my 6th little light green box? I have showered love on so many that my powers are still on hold, but I’ll give my little green gifts again tomorrow when I’m able.</p>
