WSJ article on students from the Northeast choosing southern publics

I believe in the era I was referencing, UCLA had over a 40% admit rate, and the experience of kids in our high school (OOS) is they were very likely to admit you as long as you had certain numbers.

Of course this is in an era where even the most selective colleges had 15-20% admit rates, and their average SATs were in the 1300s.

From a marketing standpoint, I really like the four rounds of Early Action at Auburn. Kids can have a spot at a school in the fall at a top of the second tier institution (from an engineering perspective), and then have a few reach schools for regular EA (Jan 15th) or RD in March.

Kids who apply to OOS publics with strong stats don’t need to fill out 20 applications. They can have a more targeted approach.

I wonder if this will prove true for college applications as well:

Fewer Americans are moving to Southern states.

No wonder housing sales have slowed (and prices too) although that might be everywhere.

That’s everywhere
