<p>We got XM radio in the car for Christmas. So far I have just found two channels that I like - 22 and 45. I enjoy some music from the 70’s but after thirty years of listening to the same bands I like current alternative adult music a bit more. Any suggestions?</p>

<p>such as 25 (the Blend-adult hits past and today), 40 (Deep Tracks - deep album rock), 46 (Top Tracks -classic rock), 50 (the Loft - acoustic rock), the decade channels are pretty good- 6 for 60’s, 7 for 70’s, etc, and others depending on my mood.</p>
<p>I like the folk music on 15. You might also want to check out the comedy stations.</p>
<p>I think the hard-core comedy channel is pretty bad. It’s not even a language thing per se, they just have a bunch of people who think that cursing in and of itself is funny. It isn’t, it’s boring. But just when I’m ready to give up on the channel forever they play some great Lewis Black, or classic Richard Pryor or, once, Lenny Bruce. The problem is, those bits make it painfully obvious how bad the bulk of their programming is.</p>
<p>XM 150 (adult comedy) is truly dreadful, but I love listening to it when I’m driving long distances because I get so busy being shocked that I forget to be bored or tired. XM 151 is “family comedy” but I wouldn’t listen to it with anyone under 13.</p>
<p>The one XM station the entire family agrees on in XM 75 “the voice of Starbucks”—very wide and pleasant play list.</p>
<p>I also really like the detailed traffic info stations. It’s lovely to get a really good traffic report.</p>
<p>I listen to channel 44 (Fred) frequently. Alternative sounds of the 70s and 80s including Depeche Mode, Bowie, The Clash, The Cure, The Smiths, liberally seasoned with Seattle Grunge and Punk.</p>
<p>Thanks for the suggestions. I promise I will check 'em all out. I did find the adult and family comedy channels. The former was too offensive and the latter not very interesting. Guess I was hoping for a playlist just like my favorite fm channels without the commercials.</p>
<p>We enjoyed Kiss this summer (I haven’t listened to it recently, but it may be 22 or close to it). My daughter likes the French language station. And we are looking forward to the start of baseball season and being able to hear any and every MLB game broadcast.</p>
<p>I actually enjoy the Laugh USA channel, maybe 153? listened to it for a bit during the round trip sunday to new haven and back…The other comedy channels are definitely tooo raw…not acceptable IMHO …and on some trips I start at 5 and move to 6, 7, 8 ,9 and it is like an oldies mix by switching among them…fun to hear Al Green again just by going to the 60’s or 70’s…I go to MSNBC at 5pm for Hardball … I put on CNN Headline News sometimes too…haven’t found Ellen yet, I thought she was on at some time during the day… I listened to a channel with Christmas music during the holidays, that was a nice treat too I have not really found a current music channel that I like…surprised by that…shouldn’t be that hard… most of the music on the Top Tracks is completely unknown to me…I am not completely current but I am not oblivious either…I do love having it though…came with my car…renewed for XMAS… open to other station suggestions except for country…</p>
<p>I like the French channel 102 (Sur La Route) and 74 (Bluesville). Try the BBC World Service for NPR-type features.</p>
<p>OK, I admit it. If I could have my wildest dream fulfilled, I would star in a Broadway show. I listen endlessly to the Broadway Channel (don’t know the number).</p>
