I tried being vegetarian. Didn’t work out so well!

YAY ME TOO

Also, being a vegetarian in Texas is hard.

^Visit my country. Huge number of vegetarians. And there’s tons of delicious food thats vegetarian. (though the best is undoubtedly non vegetarian. But I may be biased.
)

^India? Yeah, one of my good friends is Indian. She goes back every other summer and she’s told me stories about all the amazingly delicious vegetarian food and it makes me really sad because in Texas, unless you want to go to a sit-down Asian restaurant, your only options are, like, fries. Or maybe a sandwich with lettuce and cheese. No substantial protein at all .__. and everyone who doesn’t know me here thinks I’m a crazy liberal hippie pinko commie bent on destroying everything that America stands for because I don’t eat meat. :/

Yup. Hahahaha. “crazy liberal hippie pink commie?” Couldn’t help cracking up. Texas seems interesting. xD All my vegetarian friends applying to the US are super worried about what they’re gonna get to eat.

^^
Lol. Gotta love Texas.

I’m going in guns blazing, 29 on my act, 3.9/4.0 gpa, decent essays, decent extra currics, hopefully good teacher recs, and hoping for the best. Who dat!

^^ Indeed. Also, whenever I mention I’m a vegetarian around someone who’s currently eating meat, they almost invariably start enjoying their meal with much more gusto, saying things like, “mmmm, I love eating MEAT,” or “this dead animal is SO. GOOD.” It’s mostly just entertaining.

This is what my brother says. I’m like, dude, I’m flipping conservative and as anti-communist as you but have it your way.

Also fgsfds mostly if people around me hear I’m vegetarian they’ll be like, “Oh, I’m sorry,” and act sort off ashamed. I’m like, “Guys–it’s ok. You’re allowed to eat meat!” But my brother will be a pain and do all that stuff. I’m just like, “Yes, you are eating DEAD ANIMAL. Murderer. Enjoy the BLOOD and MUSCLE.”

I got you the joke thing, brah.

GO VEGGIES!!! Hahahaha.

Also, being a vegetarian in Texas is hard.
I can’t say I have this issue where I live…

So how long have you guys been vegetarian?? And what is your feeling about fake meat i.e. yves if you please, boca burgers, tofurkey, etc.? My mom tells me she doesn’t understand why I eat fake stuff that looks like meat instead of just eating meat, even though I tell her OVER and OVER again that I don’t want to eat meat b/c it’s, you know, animal, and it also grosses me out. Obviously the fake stuff doesn’t have that problem. Then she’ll say, “The expiration date is in like a year. That scares me.” To which I read the ingredients list, which invariably includes “non-genetically engineered expeller pressed canola oil, non-genetically engineered organic soy,” etc. etc. Lol.

OMG I’M A VEGETARIAN TOO! We better all get in ):<

But yeah, I’ve been vegetarian since I was a toddler since my parents are environmental and all that. I’m pretty much borderline vegan, actually, since we don’t eat egg/milk often, but I still like (vegetarian) pizza as much as the next guy.

I’m a vegetarian too!
SCEA veggie unite ![]()
Well technically.
No meat can be cooked in the house, but I do have some outside once in a blue moon if I feel like it and can get over my conscience that it’s a dead animal I’m having long enough to chew. I know. It’s weird.

I’m veg too ! Yay !
I’ve been veg since birth really, my family’s been veg for generations. It has something to do with our religious affiliation really…

(meat-eater continues listening in on conversation)

Haha Owlehn. Hurray for meat.
lol.

Let’s talk about meat.
Have you ever had duck before?

Yes, HATED it. I also hate sashimi, pigeon and any fish that’s served whole. And disgusting looking prawns. (love them otherwise though.)
I have a long hate list.
Haha what about you?

This is going to sound sick.
I had porcupine once :P

Sounds more painful than sick honestly.
But, umm, WHY? That’s very daring of you. I’d never try it.

Well, Kiara, the quills were removed! It tasted like like chicken though :P

Why try it? I’m a weird person - my favorite fruit is durian.

That’s not weird, just unusual. I had it once when I was in Malaysia in July. Never having it again.
My hosts bought it for me so I had to eat it. But my friend and I secretly hid it in our bags when they weren’t looking! It was quite funny cause the next day someone else was rummaging in my bag for something, and voila, she ended up with a hand full of old durian!
