^ I go to a pretty good magnet/public school, the competition is pretty intense. Our performance at Yale is actually the worst of the HYPS schools too.

3 SCEAers in my grade, including myself. Nobody from my school has been accepted in years. Awesome! :)

^ Same here. We’ve got 3 kids applying SCEA, myself included. My school’s pretty young but we’ve still never gotten anyone into HYP. A girl got into Stanford like six years ago, and a kid got into Brown last year. But other than that, even the top 5 usually just go to state schools :/

^That’s nothing. Our val of three years ago went to community college (despite the fact that several nearby private colleges offer full scholarships to vals)

EDIT: I do have to add that last year a student (not val) was admitted to Harvard…so we’re not a complete lost cause - at least that’s what I’m hoping

Our school hasn’t had anyone (who wasn’t hooked) go to HYPS in at least five years. Last year the val was accepted to Harvard, Princeton, and MIT but she chose MIT. Other than that our salutatorian went to Columbia and that was the extent of the ivies, except for a boy who went to Harvard as a recruit and who absolutely would not have gotten in otherwise. My class is really really smart though compared to those in the past so hopefully this will change. But yeah, you’ve definitely got me beat anyway, YellowDaisies! That’s crazy.

Did anyone else interview on-campus? I still cannot figure out whether that takes the place of an alumni interview…

^ If you have an on-campus interview, you get put at the bottom of the interview list and are only offered one if everyone else who didn’t have one on-campus gets an alumni interview.

Both the val and sald got accepted into Columbia (hooked) from my school last year, but everyone else went to local and state schools. They have a history of sending tons of ppl to hyp 15 years ago -_- not so much now

@fgsfds: Makes sense. Thanks.

@Jamezz93: Two people in my grade are applying SCEA, one applying RD. In the past ten years, literally nobody has been accepted early. For some reason my school sends an inordinate amount of people to Brown…

No one in my school applying SCEA. In fact, I only know of one other student in the county applying SCEA, but I don’t know how that bodes for me.

^sd6, same here. I’m the only one in my school this year, but, last year, there were about 20 people who applied SCEA and were deferred. Not sure if I made a prudent decision after all…

^Wow, all 20 who applied got deferred? =/
And that’s a pretty big drop in SCEA applicants from your school. Hopefully it makes you stand out better in comparison!

Last year we had 3 apply SCEA, 2 get rejected one get deferred (our valedictorian) then rejected at RD time. Last year we had 4 kids go to Ivies, but only one was unhooked. =/

My school had one kid go to an Ivy five years ago, but he was URM.
Other than that… nobody. :(

My school has never sent anyone to an Ivy as far as I know (one Harvard waitlistee a few years ago, though).

Time for you to break the curse huh? :)

My school sends a couple to HYPS every year. Last year we had someone go to Harvard and two others to MIT. 3 Years ago we had one go to Yale and one to Stanford.
One of my best friends and I are both applying SCEA. I really hope we both get in; that would be crazy…do you think Yale would accept two people from the same school for SCEA?

Well as some previous posters have said, multiple people from their hs have gotten in SCEA in past years.

At my school the pattern used to be 2 a year (back around 06-08) but recently it’s been one a year. So definitely no reason it can’t happen!

Last year my public school had 3 accepted to U Penn, 1 MIT, 1 Harvard waitlistee. The year before that we sent 1 to Stanford, 1 to Cornell…and 1 to Harvard 4 years ago. The thing is, our Newsweek public school ranking (if it counts for anything) has been dropping about 100 places per year, and last year many of our top 10 (including our salutatorian) were rejected SCEA, so I’m pretty nervous.

One week, six days to go…

Unbelievable.

On a separate topic - any other musicians here?
