Yes, I play the piano.

Yes, I play the piano.

I’m a musician! (Violinist.)
Just a side note, I believe there’s a thread for musicians at Yale floating around somewhere.

^

:D

ugh my supplement blows.

I’m a musician too! Trombone baby!!

And of course, everyone from my school is applying to Stanford EA (norcal)

And, i have to give props to all nickelodeon oldies! especially doug and rocko’s modern life and the angry beaver’s

(^me trying to respond to the conversations that appeared over the span of today)

I need to rewatch all of Rocko’s Modern Life now that I’ll understand all of the innuendos. They’d never let something like it on TV nowadays.

I play the Bassoon. Not well, but I play it.

^I only know one person from my large public HS applying to Stanford. They don’t accept ANYONE from our school. For real. : O

Any dancers here? :)

I can play the tabla! (not very well though.)
Pixie- i did bharatnatyam for five years if it counts. stopped in ninth grade.

I’m about as good at dancing as I am at singing.

I’m tone deaf. ;)

I can’t believe I’ve actually applied to COLLEGE. Sometimes I feel like I was just in 8th grade yesterday…

I’m new here, but thought I’d chime in.

I’m the only SCEA to Yale from my school this year- 2 were admitted last year and we’ve had one person go every year for the past 4 or 5 years so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

In terms of Ivies, we had about 13 people last year and then some to other equivalent schools like Stanford, MIT, Caltech, etc.

By the way, I was curious: are any of your graduating classes this year especially strong? Ours has caused all of our counselors to have fits. (:

Yes, mine this year is the best batch as far back as anyone can remember. We have international sports players(seriously. Asian Games attendees, Commonwealth camp attendees, and students who are national championship position holders in every sport) people with great EC’s, best SAT scores ever this year, stellar school grades… I feel proud. :D

My graduating class is much stronger than those from the past 3-4 years, especially when it comes to National Merit/SATs etc., and it seems like that’s the case for a lot of people. Interesting.

I guess 2011 is a great year to graduate.

@quomodo: do you take Latin? Sometimes I feel like I’m one of the only public school kids that still studies Latin…

My high school has never sent anyone to an ivy league…literally, the only schools people in my class are applying to are nicholls state university and LSU…it’s sad, people think i’m insane for going out of state (applying out of state i should say, hopefully i get in) and they don’t even know what early action or early decision is…theres not one person in my class whos even taken the SAT because they don’t know wht it is…it’s crazy, i feel like one of a kind and that’s why i love talking on college confidential because i know that there are others like me in the world, just not in my small town of <30,000

@perfect pixie: I do gymnastics, but we used to have required dance classes as part of our training. I love dance. Whenever I stop gymnastics I’ll probably continue with dance. What kind of dance do you do? :)

@yalehopeful29: I kind of feel the same way. Outside of my 25 person math team class I know of only one person applying out of state. Even kids in my other AP classes will say that it’s absolutely ridiculous that UF is a safety for me. UF is everyone elses absolute dream. Most kids at my school know about SAT and stuff though, I live in a town about as big as yours but it is a very rich small town, so a lot more people know about college-related stuff.

My class is very smart though compared to other years. I heard the other day that if anyone in our top 15 had been in another class from the past five years, they would have been that class’s valedictorian. We’ll see how people do with colleges though. We’ve got lots of ambitious kids this year.

My class is probably the second smartest our HS has seen. Class of 2009 had us beat. Legit geniuses in that class. It’s rumored that every odd-numbered class year in our HS is much stronger than the even numbered years before and after it. So far, that theory has held true.

I wouldn’t say that my class is any smarter than any previous class. My school usually sends 50-60 kids to Ivy’s + Stanford and MIT so I’m not too worried about not getting in anywhere.

^^^^ Modesty at it’s best ;)

I cannot take 13 more days of this.
