To those deferred: come join me?
@Reader16 You can’t exactly change your actual application but you can send in additional info.
@Henryboj33 There are numerous factors when it comes to admission. Unless your numbers are drastically below the average, I wouldn’t beat yourself up over them and assume it comes down to subjective fluff. Don’t worry. There’s plenty of time left for other decisions! Yale is only one school of many. Best of luck to you.
Hello!
Hey, I was deferred, too. Hope to hear good news in April
3 more months to go!
Come on Harvard, you’ve still got a shot with me
Im the opposite of everyone here, 29 ACT but great extra curriculars and helped found a stem academy at my high school and went to Harvard summer school
Yep! Even though this SCEA process was incredibly stressful and slightly disappointing, I’m still glad I met all of you! Here’s to hoping we’ll all be accepted come March 31st!
Deferred too. Honestly, more motivated than ever to kick butt on my RD apps now.
I can’t wait to see where we’ll all end up, Yale or not. You all are an incredible group of people, and I’m so grateful that I got to know some of you guys through the early thread.
.
Hi everyone! Same here- I’m definitely still pumped for the other places I’m applying!!!
Hey everyone! I was just wondering about something. Between the time our applications were due and now, it was announced that I am an Illinois State Scholar. This award is just based on our ACT scores and GPA. I was wondering if it would be worth it to send that in. It seems a little pointless because they already know my numbers.
I thought I’d be in tears when I saw my deferral, but I was actually really calm. I think the tone of the letter really helped in lessening the pain and keeping the deferred applicants hopeful.
Let’s all name one aspect of our applications that we want to improve for RD. I’ll start: my GPA and winning more awards?
@alfin7 Congratulations! Why not? You would’ve sent it in if you were applying RD. But I would maybe wait until you have another update and send them in together?
@alfin7 It probably wouldn’t hurt, but since they do already have your scores I would definitely talk a counselor whom you trust or someone else knowledgable before doing so. Also, I’m not sure the title itself would benefit you much, but you could maybe write a letter expressing interest, updating on activities, etc. Someone from my school did these a few years back and was accepted RD after being deferred.
I feel pretty neutral too! I guess after hearing the large percentage of deferrals I immediately that chances are I’d be deferred, which really brought my expectations to where they should be.
I also would like to improve my GPA. A little late for awards though yikes! I want to focus more on my other schools I’m interested in. Yale is great, but so are other options on my list!
Deferred. They just care about test scores all A’s in 18 AP classes not good enough I suppose. 2200 SAT too low I suppose. Oh well life goes on.
Glad to be here
I don’t think I’ll be too active on this thread until like march lol. Don’t wanna keep thinking about college apps and having false hope. But there really is still hope so its all good!
So you’ve probably all seen this but results from EA round:
Total Number of Applicants: 4,634
Total Number of Admits: 795
Rate of Admission: 17.2%
Total Number of Defers: 2477
Comparable to that of years past?
