I would assume so because this is a requirement of their financial aid
Iāve noticed many people discussing changes in financial document dates. When I inquire about it, some people get upset because the financial office and admissions are separate entities. Despite these opinions, I am genuinely curious. Initially, we submitted all requirements to IDOC, so any documents required by each school must not be missing. All documents have been marked as āreceivedā in our Yaleās portal, including all 10 items submitted since November to IDOC. For other schools, such as Duke and Columbia, updates occurred on March 1st because they didnāt receive all documents automatically initially. If youāre familiar with the Yale portal, could you explain it? Didnāt you submit documents to IDOC earlier?
The documents? They should receive it but it will take time.
Yes. We submitted all in November so yale got all . I know yale got docs which they required from all students.
Then, others didnāt submit it and were requested now or later?
I had three new documents added last week. Then a few days after they were all put in order. Donāt know why they have to stress me out like this
Iām deferred
Iām not particularly worried about whether my child will get in or not, but I am genuinely curious. Yale received all our documents from the beginning, so I donāt understand why they added more of your documents to the checklist as you said. We already have 10 items in our checklist. I donāt understand.
I only understand that Columbia and Duke added more and more documents to the checklist because they donāt receive documents for all applicants.
It doesnāt mean anything I think youāre worrying way too much. FA and admissions are independent; it doesnāt even matter how many documents you have, weāre all in very different situations. Weāre you deferrred as well?
I am not worried.
Can you clarify if you submitted all docs to IDOC which yale required? You and some others often mention that yale financial office uploads other docs on their checklist Because Harvard and Stanford never show our financial checklist. However, Yale and some schools upload all docs from IDOC for all applicants. If you donāt mind, can you tell me if your docs were in the checklist initially but the date is changing, or if Yale didnāt upload your docs initially? I donāt care about acceptance, but I really donāt understand what people say about Yale uploading new ones.
If you donāt want to talk for this, i wonāt ask you anymore. Thank you.
This is a general response, but it may help. Families have different financial situations, and schools may ask certain families for additional documents to complete their financial aid review. This is the case for my family with income from salaried and self employment. After submitting the initially requested required forms, we were asked by a few CSS schools to submit one or more of the following additional forms: a tax worksheet, a business/farm supplement, 2 tax schedules, and a verification form. The 2 tax schedules were already submitted, so that turned out to be an oversight by the financial aid office that was resolved by email correspondence.
Then i understand. They require to submit additional documents to satisfy their requirements for checklist. It happens very normally.
The only reason I am confused is because why Yale didnāt put these documents on my portal when I was deferred. Why are they just putting them in now if they were supposedly ārequiredā for my FA package if I was accepted in the early round? Just seems all weird
I understand. It seems like a positive situation, but there have been instances in past threads on College Confidential where people who were deferred experienced similar circumstances( got SID id and requested more docs after deferral) were ultimately denied admission. Itās challenging to predict outcomes solely based on the financial aid portal recently. Good luck. I hope you will get in also.
I got Sid in the early round and it means nothing my friend had one and heās got denied. I have to agree that it doesnāt mean anything but itās fun to watch
Yes. Duke and Columbia also added so many docs ( even Verification IRS documents) but i also can not say it is good sign. Sometimes i doubt if they really are need blind. Can you understand what i think about it?
I hope your sign is good indication , also mine.
We were one of those⦠deferred Yale SCEA, received SID in the RD round, contacted by FA for more info, Yale downloaded a few docs, changes in portal in the RD round etc etc etc, but denied in the end
But you mentioned your Duke portal changed recently (I know this is a Yale thread, but just wanted to respond to you). That happened to us as well, around March 1st of last year, as they downloaded a few new docs from IDOC and D23 got accepted into Duke. A few others whose Duke portal changed with new docs appearing got accepted as well. This was last year and it all might have been a huge coincidence. I donāt want to get your hopes up, but just letting you know what we saw last year. Keep an open mind and a positive attitude. Good luck!
Thank you very much.
I remember seeing you in the Columbia thread last year. You received a likely letter from Columbia, which I think is awesome. When you received the likely letter, was your financial portal already updated with many documents downloaded before receiving the likely letter? Recently, Columbia updated many documents, including various verifications. Iām just curious if you remember and can let me know.
What dates were your changes? Were they early feb or later?
I saw her in yale last year portal. She updated about her portal continuing i kind of remembering
But someone got in after portal was updated. So you and parent-in- Georgia are different. Just we are worried if we will be disappointed.
