Yale Class of 2028 Official Thread

That is still a positive news.

S24 applied for a liberal arts major and since he had an interview, potentially on the bubble, so I’m sure he won’t get a likely. But gosh, a positive sign would be nice. The waiting is torture!

My twins both got interviews. One even said that he was going to write a very good recommendation at the end. Good luck to all!

I am guessing that likely is offered to STEM applicants primarily.

Would you please share stats, what major did your son apply for? Thanks!

Can an admin please delete the multiple posts, I had an error popping up while posting & it seems to have posted multiple times. Thank you!

No I got that same email and was deferred from Yale EA

I also know many who got that email and were denied EA. Don’t read into it it just means they need more financial info.

That was not FA email.

Do accepted students all get interviews?

It isn’t true. Some students in reddit got in HYP without interview. I understand that didn’t getting interview makes more students nervous . After submitting application , it feels too long to wait without any interviews .

From what I’ve heard those who get in without interviews are shoo-ins most admits get interviewed. At Yale theirs is a correlation between interviews and admission because of that initial filter stage. You don’t really know if you made it past that stage if you don’t get an interview.

I agree with you.

Definitely disappointed here that D24 didn’t get an interview. We weren’t reading anything into it at first as we aren’t from an area that sends many to Yale traditionally, in fact the only person from her HS to be accepted probably in the last decade matriculated last year. However this weekend she learned that another student at her school did get an interview, so she’s assuming she has her answer on admission as our school isn’t big enough or strong enough to have two admits in a year and clearly they were only interested enough to give one interview.

Sorry, I’m trying to understand what you are saying here. How would this apply to SCEA/deferred applicants? What does this mean for a deferred applicant if they haven’t had an interview either during SCEA or now during RD? I thought all along that deferred at least means you made the first cut. Or could it be that admission never got to your application in the early round and just deferred you to RD?

The pro of a Yale interview is it means you likely made it past the initial screen

The con of a Yale interview is it implies they were not necessarily entirely satisfied you were a good fit for Yale based on your written application materials.

Yale seems to be suggesting this largely balances out. And I have seen no real evidence to suggest otherwise.
