Yale Eli Whitney Program 2025

Has anyone received anything regarding the StandOut interviews yet? Or are we all just waiting in angst? Haha.

Same here except I’ve had zero help from college professors or Counsellors. Not that I wish that on anyone or that it takes away from your success, but I come from a very small town in Washington state and even the community college staff doesn’t believe we can go anywhere beyond our local community. I proved everyone wrong by transferring to Columbia and hope to do it again this upcoming admissions cycle. Congratulations.

Wow, I definitely get that. And props to you for making it this far. Hope to see you on campus!!

Haven’t heard anything! Thankful for this forum so we can all stay updated. This application cycle has made me realize just how important non-trad programs are vs traditional transfer programs. There were so many moments throughout the application process for other schools that left me thinking welp, this isn’t for students like me. I hope everyone here gets an interview request in the next few weeks! :crossed_fingers:

agreed!! Yale’s application and it’s questions just seemed to fit my needs. I felt like I had the space to really tell my story.

Hey guys I also applied to Yale EWSP and Brown RUE. I would like to jump in with you all as we are all in the waiting game. I received an email from Yale stating that I will receive an email from the StandOut platform at the end of March so hopefully we will receive the invitation this week or next week at the latest!

Does anyone know if this is something that everyone gets or if we’re like specially chosen? Lmao

Stand Out is received by everyone who applied but is not mandatory. It’s the second round of interviews that are a select few only. As per the admission office’s email:

“At the end of March, you will receive an email from the StandOut platform inviting you to record a virtual interview. Please note that these interviews are entirely optional. After a preliminary review of all EWSP applications, a small number of candidates will be selected in early to mid-April by the Admissions Office to have a live virtual interview with an admissions officer.”

Ohhhh right! I did see that lol thank you. Do you think it’s a good sign if you receive an email for a second interview? Just having fun w this process and the anxiety is getting to me lmao

Did anyone finished their StandOut interview? I feel very anxious lol…

From what I research, a virtual interview isn’t an indicator for anything specific, it’s usually means the school need more information about you and/or if they want get to know more about your life and academic career. There have been cases where students have gotten admitted without an interview invitation. Take that with a grain of salt lol.

Yeah, I’m going to second this. I’ve also heard it’s possible to get admitted without an invitation to the live interview, but it’s very rare. From my understanding of previous forums, you either get the invitation for a live interview or receive a denial around the same time (past applicants have received a denial way before the posted decision date). So, I’ve always perceived it as “moving onto the next round” of sorts. The live interview with an admission officer is to get a sense of whether you’ll be a good “fit” with the university and its student body. So it’s mostly personality/lifestyle based. If you have an hour to spare, I would highly recommend taking a listen to Yale Admission’s podcast on Spotify or SoundCloud. They have an episode on Interviews, and although their interviewing process is a bit different post-COVID, there’s still a lot of fantastic information they share about the purpose of an interview, how to prepare for the interview, and what to expect from a live interview. Anyone can feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on any of this info. I’ve gathered all this purely by my own personal research and preparation.

Hello Everyone,

Good luck on your application! I applied as well and did the standout interview. I enjoyed reading this thread. Seeing the transformation some of you have taken to where you are now is inspiring.

Hi everyone!

I’d like to talk about the StandOut Interviews. For those who have completed it, how do you feel about the experience? I’m not asking you to post the questions or anything like that, but feel free to share how you feel now that it’s done.

For those who haven’t done it yet, what’s holding you back?
