I’m ranking schools for QB, and I have no idea which order to rank these ><

what would be the best school if you’re undecided OR if you kind of have an idea but not that sure about which major you want?

I’m thinking of political science/economics/international relations, but I would love to be able to take a major and then have freedom to take lots of other classes I’m interested in. I’ve been looking at websites, but it doesn’t really specify the amount of classes you have to take in one major…

Other considerations:
is there a social gap between people from diff. economic backgrounds (I’ve heard this from someone who’s friend went to Princeton)?

surrounding areas?

Weather? (i’ve lived in sub-tropical areas + cali all my life, so worried about adjusting)

I’m so confused, and I would love any advice ! :D

You should be able to find out information about the requirements for different majors. For instance, I went to the Yale website, Departments, Economics, Undergraduate:

I don’t think there are any large differences in general requirements between YSP, in the sense that they all have distributional requirements, but are not at either end of the spectrum (eg. Columbia’s core vs. Brown’s open curriculum).

You will find a certain degree of SES gap at any of these schools, I’m not sure if there’s a difference between the three. Since all offer excellent FA, there will be students from different economic backgrounds.

Surrounding areas are pretty different. Princeton is in a small very affluent town but is relatively close to NYC. Yale is in a larger city, and like all large cities has it’s affluent and grittier areas. Stanford is more suburban; I’ll leave this for other posters to elaborate on as I haven’t visited S.

I’m sure you already know about the weather differences ;)!

I’m ranking the same schools for QB, and I looked at your other posts, and we have almost the exact same stats. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out =)

Stanford has a long history of outstanding QBs - one starts for the Buffalo Bills right now. Ivy League football players tend to be less competitive.

Sorry - it was a cheap gag, but it was all teed up, just waiting for someone to hit it.

For what you want to study, I feel the order should be:

Princeton
Yale
Stanford

If you know that you are leaning towards economics though, Stanford would swap places with Yale. Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs seems perfect for you.

The economic diversity at all three are about the same. Don’t worry about that.

The Daily Princetonian published the results of an interesting study this week showing that lower-income students were much less satisified with their Princeton experience and much less likely to participate in bicker clubs, more likely to feel uncomfortable at Greek parties and less likely to participate in varsity sports.

i live in Princeton, and my father is ex faculty. I have heard quite a few anecdotal stories of racial/ and or economic differences in princeton.
i cant tell you how bad it is in the other 2 but thats just my experience.

I go to Princeton, and I am from a low income family. Money has never been brought up nor has it affected my Princeton experience thus far. Also, with regards to the Greek parties mentioned above, Princeton doesn’t even have Greek life. The University does not recognize them, and they are truly a negligible part of the social life.

The stereotypes about Princeton being economically not diverse is grossly outdated and untrue.

I am very happy with my Princeton experience so far, and I would encourage the OP to visit, if possible, and find out more about what makes Princeton great. In fact, I couldn’t afford to attend the Princeton Preview, and Princeton paid the travelling expenses for me.

I wish I didn’t have to rank them so soon, but I guess that’s my own fault for not taking the time beforehand to look them up.

jojodevka … i actually haven’t posted on here for a while I don’t think…I came back this week due to QB CC gets too addicting so I have to have a “break” sometimes, but yeah, it’ll be cool to see what happens!
