I don’t have a silicone cover, but do have the Amazon leather cover which opens like a book. It offers great protection from falls and protects the screen when it is in my very crowded pocketbook. It is expensive IIRC.

Unfortunately, it downloads a different copy of the book, so you end up with the sample and the full version. You can look at your sample to see the line you got to and then do a ‘go to’ function on the full version, to get you where you stopped. You then have to delete the sample. It’s a little cumbersome but not technically difficult.

Thanks, I can manage that!

Gah! My daughter and I did that twice this week. When you are new to the Kindle, navigating can be tricky and purchasing a book by accident is way too easy to do! When I made the mistake, I immediately clicked the “purchased by accident” button, but my young daughter didn’t have the presence of mind to do that, and by the time she found me to show me what had happened, the purchase was complete and the book downloaded. I have e-mailed Amazon to see if the order can be canceled, but haven’t received a response yet. Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the 1-click ordering? My kids love to browse the Kindle store, but I don’t want any more “accidents.”

Also, another question: My son has to read many pdfs for school. Usually, they are the photocopied pages of books posted online by a prof and then printed by the students to read and make notes on. I sent one of these pdfs to my Kindle (and put “convert” in the subject line as instructed), but it is much too tiny to read. The zoom feature doesn’t help–the images of the photocopied book pages are still too small. Is there a way to make a pdf like that readable on a Kindle?
