Yet another white cop killing black guy and lying about it

White cop shoots a black guy during a traffic. He says he feared for his life, says the suspect had taken his stun gun, says after the shooting the cops performed CPR.

By chance, someone took video of the incident. It turns out every word the cop said was a lie, including “and” and “the.” The victim did not take the killer’s stun gun, was thirty feet away and running when he was shot, and never got any CPR or any kind of first aid at all from the killer or other police responding to the incident.

How many times do we have to see this scenario before we start suspecting cops when, by chance, there isn’t any video? Do we think they only lie when (unbeknownst to them) someone is there with a cell phone recording the incident? Why are we believing cops when we know they lie?

And the thing that makes my stomach churn is that a darn thing would’ve happened if there hadn’t been a video.

I am becoming more and more afraid for my non-white friends by the day (which is the majority of my friends). I can’t even imagine how they feel when I’m scarred crapless safe in my white skin.

The person who remained there and took that video was courageous, IMHO. If the murderer had noticed him, maybe he would have been the next casualty. Can’t you just hear it? “I was in fear of my life. He was pointing something at me.”

I hadn’t even thought about that, consolation. Chilling.

So glad there was a video and it clearly shows the cops picking up the stun gun and dropping it next to the victim.

I hope he gets life (I’m anti-death penalty.)

Chris Rock has started taking a selfie and posting it every time he gets pulled over - which is a lot, according to him. 3 times in 7 weeks according to this article.

EB, I really fear for Rock’s life if he’s holding up his phone when stopped.

“He had something in his hands. It was dark. I feared for my life.”

The revealing thing about these cases, even when the shooting is more justified than this one was, is how the police treat someone they just killed like a piece of meat instead of a person. The Michael Brown shooting appears to have been defensible, but the way his body was treated, and the way this guy’s body was treated, were indefensible. And that’s true of all the shooting videos I’ve watched: however justified the initial shooting might be, the cops do not react like there is a shooting victim in front of them.

Romani, he obviously feels it is important and something he has to do to bring attention to the issue.

The video also showed the cop putting handcuffs on the dead victim. WTF?!?

He will get what’s coming for him. I have faith in that.

I am sick,my son will be graduating from college next month, probably moving away, and I fear for him. The cop and his attorney were adamant about the cops version until the video was discovered. Maybe some of the regulars can see why we(Blacks) were skeptical in the Brown case? How many Black men are dead, or locked up because a dirty cop said, “he reached for my gun”, or “I found drugs on him”. People always talk about how cops have a hard time policing, and the “no snitch” code which is prevalent in our communities makes it even harder. But how about the “blue wall of silence” among officers? When are good cops going to call out their dirty brethren?

I hope the other officers that came on the scene are fired for falsifying the report, because apparently he was never given any first aid. Why in the heck would you still handcuff someone that was clearly wounded and unable to move? What amazes me even more about this case, is that it was almost comical how SLOW he was running. The cop was so much more fit and many years younger, he could have easily taken him down. Every time my son goes back to school, I pray. Every time my husband leaves for work, I pray.

For real! The victim more or less hobbled away while the officer took a couple nonchalant steps in his direction.

@partyof5, I cannot “like” your post, because it is just too sad and too real.

I honestly do not get people who deny this reality. Open your eyes, people. Please.

Partyof5 - there are many of us who share your skepticism and we are outraged over the blatant targeting of minorities by the police.

We absolutely understand the fear you feel for your H and son.

“But black on black crime…”

Yet another reason we need cameras on all police officers who interact with the public. I think it’s the best way to prevent these recurring horrific acts.

Wouldn’t forensics have shown this guy to be lying even without the video? And wouldn’t the fact that the victim was handcuffed make his tales of CPR seem very unlikely? Is the guy stupid in addition to being a sociopath?

Body cameras are a big help when they are on and functioning. I remember a video surfacing where a man was pulled over and beaten by officers all with their body cams off or recently being turned off.

@nrdsb4 yes one would think forensics would show he was lying. I have two words for that Eric Garner. There was a video, and the coroner ruled he died from being in a choke hold, and yet no indictments.

Agree partyof5. Didn’t seem to matter what the coroner said.

As for body cameras - they have been know to be turned off. Frankly, I do not trust the police at all when these thing happen or the prosecutors who handle these cases.
