Yet another white cop killing black guy and lying about it

Oh, here’s another case of police killing a black person. The cops repeatedly used a Taser on Natasha McKenna, a mentally ill woman who had on handcuffs, leg shackles and a mask, who weighed 130 pounds, and who was already in detention. Taser manufacturers say that someone should be tased no more than three times; she was tased more times than that.

The mentally ill are another well-known target of police brutality and murder.

Note that the video doesn’t show any blood. It does show a cop’s knee on the victim’s head, forcing it into the pavement, the entire time. Three people are holding him down. It is useful to hear how they treated the victim.
Excerpt:
ohhhhh. oooh. he shot me. he shot me. he shot me,

(Shouting at the victim: F you. You asked for it, you F—er, you hear me?! You F—ing ran.

victim moaning - ohhh, ohhh

Shut the F— up

Oh god. Oh he shot me. I didn’t do s—. He shot me man. Oh my god.

You didn’t do shit? You didn’t do s—? Really?

I’m losing my breath.

F— your breath.

(Then something unintelligible is said, and the video ends)

Just awful. I’ve heard also that the mentally ill and homeless are often victims. It depends on where the cops are and what they think of as the group they can get away with abusing. In more rural, less white areas, it is more likely to be the (white) homeless. Gee, there’s always someone to beat up.

How depressing. I hope all this scrutiny will effect some real change.

So in Tulsa, the real cops aren’t much better than the rich-guy fake cop. Fantastic. And repeatedly tasing someone who’s already fully restrained? I’d love to hear the rationale for that one.

It is depressing, @greenwitch‌.

This story is the best I’ve seen on this and answered my questions (Aren’t there age restrictions? Apparently not. How common are these programs? Too common)

When cops cry wolf

This is a great article on Politico by Frank Serpico

Serpico- now there’s a hero! Will have to read that later when I have more time.

Breaking, cop charged in Oklahoma killing

http://abcnews.go.com/US/oklahoma-reserve-deputy-73-charged-degree-manslaughter-stun/story?id=30277587

Well, in some threads like the one on vaccinating your kids…those experiences would be called anecdotal and irrelevant in a scientific analysis. So to answer your question…it depends on what the audience wishes to deduce.

Oh, geez. :eyeroll:

What about culpable negligence for the police force that let a 73-year-old cosplay with a real gun?

@“Cardinal Fang” agreed! I am sure they will be named in a lawsuit. The cop who also said, “f___ your breath”, should also face some type of discipline.

Exactly, Fang. Here’s how the DA described culpable negligence in his statement:

How does that description NOT fit the Tulsa police department?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/04/13/the-73-year-old-reserve-cop-who-mistook-his-gun-for-a-taser/

Interesting piece by Serpico. Earlier, I was going to suggest that maybe recruiting more female officers — lower the overall testosterone level — would be helpful. I guess not.

Yep, Fang and LasMa, sure sounds like the entire department is guilty of culpable negligence.

I heard that at least one of the OKC news programs actually showed most of that video. Bleeped out the cuss words, of course, but did caption the end as “I’m losing my breath… F— your breath”.

Surprising. heck, even yahoo cut off that last line.

The relevant question is how many errors are made in an operating room each week by some old doddering rich donor you handed a scalpel to, even though he’d never been to med school?

Nice try, Sheriff Glanz.

I have to tell you that this story has been eye-opening. I am going to find out whether my community uses these “reserve officers” and to what extent. Who possibly thinks it’s a good idea to arm a 73yo with a gun when you don’t even let fully trained officers stay on duty at that age?

I just heard this on the evening news. Un****ingbeliavable.

He’s been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter. Max he could get is 4 years.

Buying your way into police department is a new one for me, as is 70 something yo playing cops & robbers.

Also on the news was the dashcam video of Slager after he got back to his car.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/13/us/south-carolina-police-shooting/

“Once they get here, it’ll be real quick. They’re gonna tell you, you’re gonna be off for a couple days and we’ll come back and interview you then. They’re not gonna ask you any type of questions right now. They’re gonna take your weapon,” the officer says. “It’d probably be a good idea to jot down your thoughts about whatever happened … once the adrenaline stops pumping.”

Slager responds: “It’s pumping,” and then laughs."
