York University UK

Hello,
I am a student from Romania and I have received an unconditional offer from The University of York from U.K. to study electronic engineering. Is there anyone from this University whom I can ask a few questions about life at this University and the standard of teaching? If you know somebody there that would be a lot of help…Thank you

Hi SunDance,
I received an offer last year for electronic engineering with business management at York uni last year. I ended up chosing the states for several other reasons, but can give you my two bits about york.
First off, well done on the unconditional offer, are you still in school. I’l be frank with you, its not the best or one of the best for electrical engineering, but thats also because rankings are sometimes skewed. York has great programs and a welcoming faculty. The class sizes are small and interaction levels are great. They offer a lot of flexibility regarding changes in your major, course etc. Also, they have a beautiful campus and a considerable proportion of internaational students. If finances are a consideration for you, then they do offer financial aid (almost 1/3rd and 1/6th)
Its a great school, don’t get me wrong, but if you have the grades, then for electrical eng. you should try for perhaps southampton, imperial etc.
