You can spend all your time makin' money

Or you can spend all your love makin’ time
If it all fell to pieces tomorrow
Would you still be mine?

Man, so sweet. Love this. Is there anything sweeter?

One of the great rock and roll songs. Randy Meisner/Eagles. Still you’re comin’ back and runnin’ back and comin’ back for more…

My 16-year-old and my husband got into the middle of some battle of the wills about music last week, and I had him pull up the place of Journey’s “Forever Yours,” among other songs released the same year ('83). He read off every song that made Billboard’s Top 100 to me, and I sang and danced and booed and lit up depending on which title he read off.

Since then I’ve been reaching back for tunes that throw me into yesterday. Today this song won out. Scorched my banana pudding falling back in time with Meisner.

So sweet.

I am not sure if they are still on tour but the Eagles were playing near us this past summer. I thought about getting tickets for my daughters and I ( husband is completely clueless with music )
I too my oldest daughter and her best friend to see them about 15 years ago. It was their first concert .

Last October ,we all went to see Fleetwood Mac. I really enjoy that is something we can all enjoy together…maybe you and your son could do the same

@lje62: I was given a DVD with that live recording the Eagles came out with a little while ago, for which the release of Hotel California seemed to supplant the traditional long-play radio version. That really disappointed me, as the boys have gotten older (but I am pointing no fingers) and not all the notes can be hit to the same degree. A little more mellow than I’d wanted.

I haven’t been to a concert in … since before I had children. Wow. You know, lje62, I think my son would find it the funniest thing in the world to see his mother go gaga over some guys in a band. I’ll really think about that, thanks!

Funny you should mention that Waiting…when we went to the Fleetwood Mac concert, my sister and I as well as our daughters ranging in age between 27 to 23 all thought Lindsay Buckingham was really smoking hot !
My 17 yr old went to the concert with reluctance but quickly got on board

One of my favorite memories was going to a Rolling Stones concert with my mom and watching her turn into a 16 year old fangirl. I recently got to make a similar memory with her when I took her to see Paul McCartney and it was like she never left the Beatlemania era.

romani, I have been to a few concerts with my kids…my old music as well as more contemporary artists that we share an interest in. We just saw the lineup for 2016 Firefly and I am sort of interested , although I am not sure I can handle the venue or the inevitable mocking from younger people who would likely mock my presence there

Psh, anyone who would mock your presence isn’t worth your notice.
I love going to concerts with my parents. We’ve seen everything from the Stones to Eminem to Dierks Bentley to Three Days Grace.

Mumford & Sons is headlining Firefly, right? Most of the people I know who like them are my age (mid-20s) or my parents’ age (mid-50s). Not really a band that appeals to the super young IME.

I admire people that can go to music fests like Firefly. I’m an old lady without the energy for it. (My mom would do it in a heartbeat though. One of her regrets in life is that she was too young for Woodstock… lol)

I missed Woodstock because I opted to go to the Newport Jazz festival the week before. I was working in Harvard square as a waitress, and swapped hours with a co-worker. I enjoyed Newport, but have regretted ever since that I missed Woodstock. Who knew?

I’m a lousy mom. I never took my kid to a concert, not that I’ve heard to good ones in my area. Does taking him to a Star Trek event count? We met Michael Dorn (WORF) among others.

Mumford & sons is the main appeal for me , but I like 6 bands in the top lineup .The venue is pretty dread out…we rented an RV for the 2014 show for two of our daughters+ one friend. Tent camping just didn’t seem safe when it cam to weather or personal safety…2015 wasn’t an option since it interfered with HS graduation , but keeping an eye on next summer .

Can’t speak for your son, but this would top pretty much any concert for me.

@lje62: I’m thinking my kids would love to hang out with you!

@romanigypsyeyes : My daughters like Mumford & Sons, I think. I know I’ve heard them say that a few times, when they are actually speaking to each other. Hey, your mom sounds so cool.

@bookworm: Was listening to the Woodstock CD two weeks ago. Needed a little Richie Havens.

^^ my youngest thinks she is way to cool to like Mumford and Sons although her sisters and I have seen them

Thanks, Romani (& I’m part Romanian too). Also Deanna Troi. I told son he shouldn’t tell his friends his mom was sch a nerd, but then his friends would call and ask to come with us.

I recall picking my son up,from school on a Wednesday, and asking if he had a lot of homework. When he said “nO”, I said great cuz I had ordered pretickets to latest star trek movie. He saw it again on Friday night, at regular opening, but it was fun to see it together.

We saw Elvis live in concerts in HI. Also saw a few concerts in college and law school that BFs wanted to see. Since then, have been to operas, musicals and symphonies, but no mainliner concerts.

This year, we attended an Eagles and an Elton John concert. 17yo DD was with us to both and loved it.

The first concert I attended was the Eagles. It was at something called Summer of Stars at Washington Park which was in the Chicago area. Twenty years later H and I saw Don Henley in concert.

When the Eagles were on their Hell Freezes Over tour I was nursing a baby, who is now 21. So I didn’t see them then. I did see them in the 70’s but the details have been lost in the mists of time. I don’t suppose they will tour again. Glenn just had surgery; they had to postpone the Kennedy Center Honors till next year. I do recommend the History of the Eagles documentary, available on Netflix.

Do you have a most-listened-to-until-a-roommate-asks-you-if-you-could-just-wait-until-morning-to-listen-to?

Mine is ‘Providence’.
