You know you AP Lang class is dumb when...

You can get an 800 on the SAT CR section and have a C/D in the class.

Lol @ classes & teachers that grade based on everything other than ability.

Welcome to high school english.

Sucks bro  Happens to a lot of people.

Your teacher must not know about your SAT score. Did you tell them?

Yeah AP English is as subjective as it gets in high school. My AP English class was a lot of work. In every single neighboring school, it’s considered a joke class. Like an assignment for them was to read a story and write two things they liked about it.

Man, yeah. My English teacher was so dumb. Just because she didn’t agree with my papers (probably didn’t understand them…), she gave me Cs! She said something about how I “wasn’t showing my arguments well enough,” but I thought they were just fine. I got an 800 on the SAT writing section too, so she was probably wrong.

I know my AP Lang class is dumb when somebody mispronounces “necessary”, “dissolve”, “separate”, “mankind”, and “impel” in the same sentence.

You know your AP Lang class is dumb where you can do nothing, and your teacher is so dumb she assigns a book and forgets about it, and the only people who got 4s and 5s self-studied like I did.

You know you’re AP Lang class is dumb when you have to analyze the damn Superbowl commercials.
I seem to be the only one in the class whose pretty livid about that.

Oh my god, I used the wrong form of “your.” How ironic.
It’s late.

Wow…no wonder Adcoms take AP classes with a grain of salt. My AP lang class was nothing like the above. I had an ex-college professor who was one of those guys who never (and I mean never) gave anyone an A+, who gave only 2-3 A’s in the class at all in fact and who graded us on basis of how well argued our papers were (indeed taking into account our diction and structure, a daunting task in these 6pg single spaced papers mind you) as well as how well we performed on his tests, which were multiple choice but every answer had “none of the above”. Typically our rate was a novel every 2 weeks. I must say, I envy you gents/ladies… In retrospect however…the class had 13 fives, 8 fours, and 2 threes on the AP, so I suppose he did his job eh?

O yes one more thing, I have found that the SAT CR section is an insult to everything English and indeed the humanities stand for. Taking such a flowing subject and cramming it into highly debatable series of questions is just not right. Tell your English profs in college you got an 800, I am sure they will be thrilled…ahah.

The AP Lang course is a joke in general. The AP exam was so easy I think I got a 100% on the MC and nearly perfect scores on all my essays.

AP Lang was actually my favorite class in HS. Unfortunately, it was also the hardest T_T only 2-3 people got As. On the other hand, pretty much everyone got a 5 on the AP exam

SAT CR is like the epitome of aptitude testing done right in my book. I’m jealous of your 800 :).

I took a mock today with the rest of the AP Lang classes in my school. People - the majority of people - stopped writing essays after thirty minutes. The “good” students wrote all three essays and the “great” students wrote less than two pages per essay.

How do you only spend 10 minutes on an essay?

this is pretty much the opposite of my AP Lang class haha

I spent most of the time talking about Pok
