You know you are in love with Kenyon when…

[ul]
[li] You spend countless hours each day coming to CC and particularly, Kenyon’s board, hoping to find new people from your Class.
[/li]

[li] You have watched the admissions video for the 46th time and you can remember every single word that is said.
[/li]

[li] You drool over the WICKED sledding hill by the theater.
[/li]

[li] You have the patience of explaining to people that Kenyon “is an accredited school”!!! And also, you are not attending a community college. (Yeah, that’s the response I’ve gotten here in Singapore because most people attend BRAND name school, but who cares?)
[/li]

[li] You find yourself checking www.kenyon.edu and The Collegiate weekly to see that there are not much updates. And you immediately clicked a newly-updated link when you see one.
[/li]

[li] You have been to the registrar’s, provost’s website even when you are a prospie.
[/li]

[li] You come to use terms like Prospie and Kenyonite.
[/li]

[li] You googled Kenyon College and found out some really creepy things about Kenyon… which led you to know about The Old Kenyon Fire and the Gates…
[/li]

[li] You spent most of your time reading about Kenyon on College P-R-O-W-L-E-R, Wikipedia, Fiske Guide and Princeton Review.
[/li]

[li] You got really upset when Kenyon was removed from the list of “Professors Get High Marks” and “Best Overall Academic Experience for Undergrads” at the Princeton Review.
[/li]

[li] You are looking forward to the NEW dining service at Kenyon.
[/li]

[li] You dream of using the NEW Athletic Center that is scheduled to be opened soon!!!
[/li]

[li] You dream of rollercoasters at Cedar Point and some Island out there.
[/li]

[li] You find yourself reading the personalized acceptance paragraph until you can memorize it by heart.
[/li]

[li] This is the 5th time you are visiting Kenyon… Perhaps because you can’t wait till next fall.
[/li]

[li] You think that Kenyon’s endowment of USD 150 million is perhaps a bit small for a school like Kenyon and you vowed to give half of you assets to Kenyon in the future. ;)[/li][/ul]

OK… Add on when you think of new ones!!!

Here are 2 more websites to get addicted to:

http://kenyon.dailyjolt.com/

you will enjoy reading the “Freshman Dis-Orientation” link especially as Orientation approaches in August.

One more link to keep you up to date:
http://www.kenyoncollegian.com/home/

kenyon sounds like such an awesome school! I appled RD and I hope i can get out there sometime soon to visit.

Thanks, gsrp.

The link to the Collegian hasn’t been updated in ages but I am really digging the DailyJolt link. I think the “what to bring” lists are going to be a godsend come late summer.

katuga: I hope you get into Kenyon RD! It is indeed an awesome school! I havent had the chance to visit, perhaps I will go to the States in March… well, let’s see how things turns out.

White Materia: Be patient!!! I think the COLLEGIAN (yes… I spelt it wrongly in my previous post) will be updated soon when school reopens!

And people!! Please add on to the list! Thanks a lot!!

No! No patience for me!

It’s been so long since they updated. Waaaaaaaaaah!

The Openning Music of the Admissions CD is pleasing to ear and I always remember the opennig words.“I just could not… get over how beautiful it is!”

We have a shirt at Kenyon that was a fundraiser for one of the community service organizations that says, “You know you go to Kenyon when…” It’s pretty funny :)

Kenyon_10 where do you live? blaaghgh its so hard to get out there because its in the middle of nowhere! oh well, everybody I’ve met who goes there is just so friendly and kind. we’ll see what happens!

Hey katuga!! I live in Malaysia… yeah, half the globe away from you. There’s no 4 seasons over here… it’s sunny/ rainy throughout the year. And so I am looking to THIS coming fall!! (no longer next fall) And yes, I will be the only Malaysian (I think) in Kenyon next fall!

Hmm most of those things applied to me!!

…you put off your homework everyday to spend time reading the same old Kenyon CC posts you read last year as a junior, hoping this forum will spring to life again.

Wow… it’s almost a year since I wrote that… Bleah. :p

I even viewed every photos tagged with “Kenyon” on flickr! Hehe.

…you can’t bring yourself to apply to any of your 5 other colleges as to avoid being disloyal to Kenyon.

you all are crazy.
kenyon is SO boring.

? There was always something to do…just graduated last year, so I doubt it has changed much.

First things first and I wish to high heaven Kenyon at least promoted this fact: Kenyon purchased the north half of campus in 1969 or thereabouts and spent essentially half it’s existing endowment to do so. Thus depleting it and the cumulative interest it would have accrued for the last 40 years. This is a little known tidbit about Kenyon and as an alum, I only found out a few years ago (well after I graduated).

And Kenyon is creepy and filled with ghost lore and stories. I have very rational credible friends who had strange experiences that can not be explained. Talk to Professor Shutt, take his Halloween tour and learn it all.

You’ve obviously caught the Kenyon bug. It’s a great bug to have.

Kenyon didn’t actually purchase the north half in 1969, it just converted it from an old Kenyon Military Academy to the women’s campus. On the location of the Freshman Quad was first a girl’s high school boarding school (run by Kenyon) and then barrack housing after the influx of students after WWII. Bexley Hall was the military academy.

Wasn’t Bexley Hall an Episcopal Seminary until the mid '60s???
