Sounds like someone never grew up.

I would tell her I don’t have a clue. But she already knows that. She is aware that my husband and I were each other’s first partners (we started dating when I was 17 and he was 19) and that therefore I have no practical experience with dating guys with a previous sexual history.

I would like to hear more about what other people would advise, though.

My sister has had literally dozens of sexual partners. She’s had casual sex since she was in her teens and she’s now in her mid-late 20s. She was also married and widowed young (whole relationship only lasted about 2 years- best friends who briefly dated and married before he went off to the Middle East). and has been in a few serious but short-lived relationships since then. However, once in her relationships she is always EXTREMELY faithful and has never cheated. Not once. She has zero tolerance for cheaters.

To her, sex is just for fun outside of a relationship. Once in a relationship, it transforms in to something more.

Believe it or not, some people can rationalize it. Personally, I’m not a casual sex kind of person- I get attached, but if anyone ever asked my advice (as a friend obviously) I would tell them to just make sure their partner is clean and then leave the past in the past.

As a young woman though, I could never imagine bringing up my partner’s sexual past to my parent. It’s just not their business.
