I’m almost done with my work, but I wanted to know if you’re allowed to write horror? I don’t want to be too goreish.

HII yes i’m submitting to yarts - i am nowhere near done with my work but it’ll be fine trust. what categories are you applying? i’m def doing poetry but i think i’ll submit fiction if i can get out a short story soon.
I did poetry but I’m not sure how to submit to other catagories.
i have the same question bc i was on the portal and it seemed like i could only choose one category in writing (poetry for me) - is it allowed to submit in multiple (like poetry + fiction) or is that limited now?

Hey there… I’ve never actually won Youngarts but got the “merit”/“winner” a couple times. I was wondering about classical music during the actual Youngarts week. The Youngarts site says that if you get Winner with Distinction, then you perform the pieces from the application in front of judges. The thing is, the videos I’ve seen online of kids in my instrument (2020 and earlier) who have won and who played solos at Youngarts were not playing from the very narrow set of required pieces on the Youngarts application. So does anyone know if you have to play all 3 (this year it’s 3 not 4 for my instrument) pieces from your application in front of judges if you make the finalist group? Or could you play maybe 2 and also play something else?

Ok I need to clear up something. The results come out on the 25th. But the calls to finalists can start as soon as next week. Last time they started calling on the 16th. They may start even earlier this time because the results are coming out 5 - 7 days earlier than usual.

I noticed the final “list” will be earlier this year, so I was wondering about calls… Since they probably want to be sure to contact all of the distinction winners first, I’d think they’d want to start on Mon Nov. 18 at the latest so that they’d have a whole week until the big list comes out. Perhaps, though, due to the earlier list date, it’s even earlier than the 18th. I hope someone posts when they hear that someone got a call. I’m checking Reddit as well.

I would also not drive yourself crazy constantly checking for updates. That’ll be a mess to go through emotionally (I would know- I did that last year)

Yeah, well, the crazy way they do it by “calling” but not telling which day or when and then dragging it over several days and being secretive about if everyone’s been called yet can make any kid crazy. Especially now, with schools forcing kids to put up their phones, hope the call doesn’t come during the school day…

Has anyone received a call yet?
I haven’t seen anything yet, pls update if anybody gets one!
I’m also waiting… hopefully someone on here hears something and posts when they know! We’ve had no calls yet nor no anyone who has got one.
When they suppose to begin calling? If I missed the call, would they leave a message?
People have estimated sometime this week, starting Monday the 18th at the latest. It is supposedly spread over a couple of days, randomly. If you miss the call, they will leave a voicemail with their info to call them back and will also call you back eventually. I applied to Musical Theater and Pop Voice. Good luck to all who applied!
Good luck to you! What if you get both on Musical Theatre and Pop voice? Will you only accept one and can accept both?
I would pick to represent Musical Theater at Young Arts Week. Because of that, I would get a $500 reward for Voice and recognition, but I would not perform for it in Miami. So, you still can get distinction for both, you just have to pick one for Young Arts Week and get a $500 prize for the other(s) not picked by you.

Eeeek I emailed YoungArts!
“All Winners will be announced via our website the week of Thanksgiving. We will also follow up with an email. Winners with Distinction will be called in advance of the published list starting the 19th of November.”
Now we know when it begins! November 19th!
