Mixed messages have been sent. Some employees have said calls will go into next week if they don’t finish today, some say they will finish by the end of today, and others say that if they don’t finish, those who don’t get called will just find out on the list. I’m going to call again later, as I assume many others will. It’s very disorganized, it seems.
Any luck calling them today??? Curious what they are telling people today given all of the mixed messages that were coming out yesterday.
Yep! I was told (as were others who called) that calls will be done today, most likely around 6 PM.
Well looks like I didn’t get a call. I’ll see y’all on Monday! Hopefully we make the list. If not see you guys next year
so calls are officially done atp? i feel like i still haven’t rly heard of many calls at all the past two days, esp today! im surprised they said they would finish calls today, yet there hasn’t been much news
I got an email Wednesday evening asking me to call. I might have left my phone number off my application? I didn’t get a call. When I called them, I learned I received an award with distinction in a writing category.
But it looks like I won’t be able to go the YoungArts Week. (My parents are hesitant about me going to Miami alone. Honestly.)
On top of being gutted, I’m wondering if it would make a significant difference to my college applications next year? I thought CC might have some insight.
honestly just being accepted is the biggest honor. go if you can, but still let your colleges know that you were selected if you cant, as you will def still be on the list, so do not worry about that. the only thing is whether you are able to get scholarships, which you can’t get if you dont go. If you can’t go for sure though, I would notify them so maybe someone else gets a chance to be selected as an alternate. I hope your parents come around though!
I guess he is just show off here and want to make us upset!
I believe this is why they make sure to actually contact all winners with distinction (formerly known as winner-finalists) before the full list of winners is released. Because some won’t be able to travel for YoungArts week, they move on to someone else and make sure they can attend in person.
My S22 was a winner-finalist and someone called him from an unfamiliar number so he didn’t pick up. They left a voicemail and then he returned the call.
what? no. it is a huge honor. don’t diminish that.
At what time they will release the results and end up our anxious waiting?
they are out
I won for Musical Theater! Congrats to all the other winners and non-winners. Everyone worked so hard.
Did anyone who was a “winner” (not with distinction) get an email saying so? We got the general email that had the published list of “winners,” and I’m a winner, but there has never been any other email or letter saying or showing that I won. Did anyone get something like this?
Hi! Yes, you can absolutely write horror for YoungArts—genre isn’t restricted at all! Just make sure the story still highlights strong craft, character, and emotional depth.
As for gore, it’s totally okay to imply dark or intense moments without being overly graphic. Think more atmosphere and psychological tension than splatter—it can be super effective and still powerful.
Even something like a School life Thriller manhwa could inspire a great horror piece if you focus on mood and character. Good luck finishing your piece!
