Wis75 - Since you missed your 60th, I think you ought to plan a celebratory for your 61st!

I’ve heard the National Geographic trips (generally include cruises) are amazing. They look really expensive, and I’m not used to paying a lot of money for a cruise, I always get a deal.

$300 worth of tea ? Well one time we bought enough tea to clean the shelf and some customer was asking us if there was going to be a shortage of tea. I wonder what people would say with $300.

Two of my favorite trips: a cruise up the coast of Norway and a visit to Ponce, Puerto Rico.

@beil1958, tell us what you like to do. I’ve been all over the Caribbean, but not everyone likes the beach. Do you like cities, countryside, or beaches? Big crowds or quiet places? Physical activity or lounging in one place?

…All of the above, ScienceGirlMom! That’s the problem! I’ve done quite a log of traveling; never taken a bad trip!

The question is where would YOU go to celebrate a big occasion like a 60th birthday?

I’m enjoying all the ideas…Keep 'em coming.

I have a girlfriend who went whitewater rafting in the Grand Canyon for her 50th! Celebratory, indeed!

For 60th bday I’d do a Mediterranean cruise.

We’re about to celebrate 20 yr wedding anniv. Short list includes: Amalfi coast, Greece, southern France, Bali.

Bali sounds like a great place except for the Kokomo dragon. How prevalent are they?

I’ve heard they are commonly found under the covers in hotel beds. And in the toilet ready to jump out at your when you lift up the lid. And the babies like to hide in your shoes. At least, that’s what I’ve heard. Evil laugh :))

Lol! But one did chew up Sharon Stone’s ex husband’s toe.

I’ve never found a Komodo dragon hiding under my bed during all my trips to Bali, because Komodo dragons are only found on Komodo Island, about 500 km away from Bali.

“Lol! But one did chew up Sharon Stone’s ex husband’s toe.”

Oh yeah, I remember that. But he ended up divorcing her, and seemed like kind of a jerk, so the dragon probably knew what it was doing.

^^^Lol!!!

My big trip… A monthlong tour of the HI islands! Skydiving in Oahu, Na Pali coast hiking in Kauai, volcano hiking in Maui, and anything lava hiking on the Big Island. :)

We are celebrating our empty nest in February. Heading to Hawaii to see the whales. I had 2 things in Hawaii on my bucket list: kayaking the Napali Coast, and seeing the whales. They have to occur at different times of the year. We did the kayaking trip a couple of years ago. Now we are doing the whales. We often do places with lots of “nature” around for big birthdays. we’ve done Sedona Arizona, National Parks, the Columbia River Gorge area, off the top
Of my head. We want to take advantage of the outdoors while we are still young and fit enough to enjoy it.

On my bucket list are trips to Greece, an Alaskan cruise as well as one down the Rhine and Rhone. The family trip we will be taking is to a location in the far east.

As a dear friend once told me, life is too short to drink cheap tea. We bought all of the Fortnum Mason and Mariage Freres that we could carry. I’ve bought in London and Paris before, but cannot get it in the US at all anymore. I’ve been relying on traveling friends for my fix, but was thrilled to spend time in my idea of Mecca–the first floor of Fortnum Mason. I have all kinds of blends–and besides, I shared with D1.

fafnir, we try that next time we go to London.

Cannot get th the US?

Depending on what you are looking for, Guana Island is worth considering. Very special place if relaxation or romance is high on your list. We spent 6 days there for H’s 50th along with our children and 3 other families.
