Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

My local grocery store frequently gives free stuff with purchase such as their store brands. I now take all the free stuff even the ones I never use…such a jello, sport drinks, baby stuff etc and put them in a section of my pantry. Then I pull it all out during the holiday food drives. I only do it on ones that have generous expiration dates. Also, include cleaning supplies and toiletries.

Question about the Philadelphia library with the great ebook collection…D1 goes to school in Philadelphia. She has a kindle rather than a nook–I don’t know much about all this–are the ebooks available on kindle too?

The Kindle is not designed for use with library books. That’s one of the reasons I bought a Nook. But I’d check a Kindle forum (goggle it) and see what you can find.

I was scared by this year’s big snow storms and start thinking about a winter coat for my senior son who might need one next year in college.
Got an e-mail from Patagonia about their 50% off sale. Use their on line chat, they recommend a coat (according to my request, for college boy in an extreme cold NE winter) but they don’t have the size. The person over the live chat is so helpful, he find out there is one left in a retail store, so I placed the order thru live chat. With free shipping and extra 15% off, original price is 499, I paid only 174!

Happy to know there are still good customer service.

Amazon is now offering a new benefit for no additional cost available to Prime customers (those that pay the $79 for the shipping deal that Amazon does)-unlimited commercial free instant streaming of 5000 movies and tv shows. Sounds pretty good to me.

northeastmom - Is the Amazon deal good for the college kids who got the free prime accounts?

I just checked their website and it seems that you have to upgrade the free student account to the $79 account for the free movies.

I assume martharap is right. I did not see info about students, but my DH pays the $79 anyway.

Chauffeur, that’s a great idea. Will have to remember that because there is always a food drive going on in our community.

Went to an outlet mall in Charleston SC where Harry and David was closing their store there - everything was 75% off!! The shelves were nearly bare by closing time.

Went to Banana Republic Outlet and found a black suit jacket for $40 and a matching skirt for $20. Entire suit for D2 was only $60! Now she has another option for interviewing for jobs.

Great job! Can you be my personal shopper too!?!?! The outlet mall in our state isn’t all that convenient to get to & selection is very hit & miss. So wonderful when you find something you like, fits, and is a great price!

FREE tax prep for all teachers (& faculty) at participating branches of Liberty Tax Service through March 6. Call 1-866-871-1040, libertytax.com. I have NEVER used this company and am not getting any commission. I was just at the copy shop getting a sign/banner made when another customer was picking up flyers advertising this free service for the teachers. He said next week, they’ll offer free tax prep for another profession (I forget whether it is police or fire or some other group). If anyone has any experience with these folks, please let me know.

I got a pair of Stuart Weitzman black wedge pumps at Nordstrom Rack. They (according to the label) originally sold for over $300.00. At the rack they were $119.00 with another 35% off. My total, with tax, came to about $76.00. I felt so smug.
